[Scutum And Tunic Colours]

Nice pics but shame about the colours. I have always understood that the colour was derived from an earthy tone which would have been obtained from natural resources. Also you have to think that purple and blue was quite expensive to produce and used a lot of natural resources. So I would suggest a reddy brown colour which would hide all dirt blood and grime from the battles.

I am trying to find the correct name in Latin for the Legion II Augusta. I have read it as Legionis Secundae Augustae. Can anyone enlighten me on the subject as I don't fully understand Latin.

[Roman Sites]

I live 3 miles from a Roman marching camp and 4 miles from a cavalry marching camp. These are situated on the A30 in Devon and were discovered in 2000/01. Also approximately 5 miles away is a possible villa which contained a roman kiln. These are all situated in East Devon. These are just a few around us.
