So I got my first tattoo today It's a tribal design, on the front of my left hip. (Painful place for a tat btw. Mine is pretty big, too.) I went with KT (dad's girlfriend. She's really awesome.) and tomorrow we're going to Harrisburg to go shopping. I'm having so much fun!!

My first two days weren't as great...on the whole ride up and yesterday too I was feeling a bit ill, and at my graduation party yesterday I was half asleep and a bit nauseous. I'm feeling much better now though, so it's all good.

I'm looking forward to getting a manicure/hairdo and getting some really cheap clothes tommorrow!

I just went to move some of the ointment that I have to put on it around, because there was a dry spot on it where my pants had rubbed, and some of the ink came off on my hand! Is this normal??? (at the very least I'll make a mess of the bedsheets)

I am now the proud owner of a 2006 Ford Focus SES ZX4! Yippee! It's a very dark metallic gray, very shiny and pretty. And it drives amazingly. Everything is adjustable, the seat is adjustable three ways, steering wheel, everything. I've never been so comfortable in any car (or so comfortable driving any car) as I am in this one. I actually drove all the way home by myself (and that is the first time I've ever driven alone) without feeling uncomfortable.

We test drove two, one was a used black one from 2005 and the second one was this gray one. I got behind the wheel of this car and fell in *love*. Seriously. I had to have this car. The car ended up being $1000 more than was on the sticker because Ford changed the rebate. But my grandad managed to get them to pull some strings and get the price down some. Grr. But I have my baby.

We left the dealership and I got to drive it home, but we got about a quarter of the way home and my grandad realized that we didn't have 1) the owners manual and 2) the spare key. So we had to go back. We got them and everything was fine though.

After everyone spending about an hour examining the car, I drive home, my mom decides to follow me to make sure I make it home safely. and then she goes to the store. I get home fine, but don't have a house key. I realized it halfway home, then got to watch my mom drive by me waving happily while I have to sit on the porch and wait to get into my house

I'll post a picture when I get around to getting them off my digital camara.

OMG, I just got an email from my aunt, my cousin Jennifer Founds (my little Jenny!!) has just started singing professionally, and will be touring soon. Jenny is such an AMAZING singer, a good actress and I hear is getting good on a guitar to. I AM SO PROUD of my little Jenny (now not so little anymore). I LOVE HER SO MUCH!! I can't wait to see her!!!

My mom and I just got back from shopping, we figured out what we are going to do for under my graduation gown, one of those dresses like the Roman women wore (or what they may have worn. As my mom says, "what the Vestal Virgins wear in all the movies". I think it's called a Pella?). My mom is an awesome maker of weird clothes, I have a knitted "legionary tunic" now (I'm serious. LOL it does actually look really awesome). She's going to make it. I also found this most amazing dress (almost in the same style but it's navy blue) at a thrift store, for $6. I just HAD TO HAVE IT it fits perfectly.

We had another bomb scare at school on thursday (second one in two weeks) they made us go home without all of our stuff. Andy found a baby bird though, it couldn't open its eyes but otherwise it seems quite healthy and SO cute. Odessa took it home. She named it "Stick". They then locked all the bathrooms except for one (the bomb threats were written on the bathroom walls.) and students now have to go in one at a time, sign in to the bathroom, and the stalls are checked after you leave

My grandad is actively seeking a Ford Escape for me

I got this email today. Normally I don't pay too much attention to forwarded emails unless they are cute, but I read about this EXACT SAME THING in Newsweek about a month or so ago.

Stupid government. If the American people are not sufficiently angered by this, then I officially give up on America. And if this bill actually passes, then it's really true, democracy doesn't work anymore.

On a lighter note, after much work this morning we got the art show cleaned up (I worked extra to help out afterwards) and I got all of my artwork home safe thanks to my mom for giving me a ride home today. I found out today that I almost won "choice of show", which is considerably more annoying than not winning it when I thought I didn't stand a chance

Oh, and I posted the pictures of the flowers in my gallery, come check them out! I am so proud!!!

Well last night was prom, nothing really exceptional but I had a good time. And nothing disastrous happened either. The only disaster, was some of the food, something unidentifiable that I think was pork, and some green beans that smelled, seriously, like that really stinky kind of plastic and tasted similar. The strawberry shortcake was to die for though.

I have the responsibility of watching the neighbors dogs for the weekend, and I went to their house yesterday morning to find the kitchen full of gas The pilot lights on thier stove had gone out. I had no clue what to do about it thank Gods "Uncle Frank" was home, he always knows what to do

Watching the dogs is no big deal but it included staying at their house for the night as the really personable dogs (who didn't like when it got dark and they were alone, they left a "present" on the floor) don't like to sleep alone. I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail again, and tried to crash on their couch. Except, have you ever tried to sleep with a Shi Tzu on your chest? yea. Suzy has a habit of walking all over you when you try to sleep. I woke up, with Little Bear at my feet and Suzy about 2 inches from my face, staring at me. I'm glad to be back in my own house. I was wishing I were in my own bed last night.

My favorite TV shows are on tonight! I hope my neighbors get back by then so I don't have to stay over there (I'm not going to have to stay the night but I kinda want to be *here* this afternoon. No idea when they are getting back except that my friend will be back from...wherever she is...by nine)

Well I had my first AP exam today. English. It was an hour of multiple choice (55 questions and a whole hour to do it. I had 10 minutes to spare) and two hours in which to write three essays, preferrably 5 paragraphs each. GAH. It really wasn't THAT bad. Although after working for an entire year on a college level course (if I pass this exam, and then later go to college, I won't have to take the corresponding English course. It's a high school class for college credit) two girls decided to exchange papers. Now this exam is *locked down*. By even reavealing any of the multiple choice questions after taking it, even to our teacher, we may forfeit our scores. The exam has to be taken at the same time, by everyone in the country. If it is not given on a certain day, between the hours of 8 and 9 AM (or later in Alaska) the test is not valid (technically). So these girls, who may or may not have been trying to cheat (they said the writing they showed each other wasn't about the test but I don't know. I didn't see it) forfeited their scores after a year of work in this course. I cannot believe, they would do anything so stupid, but they did. and one of them was actually crying about it (of course, they deserved it if they were doing something so stupid. I certainly don't want anyone to cheat on this test and have an unfair advantage.)

I have an AP chem exam next week. I have to actually get out of class to take practice tests. Which is a real bear because I need some of that time to do other things which need to be done before next Thursday, and it's not something I can work on at home either My brain, is fried. I seriously can't feel my head

My prom is saturday night, i'll be sure to let you all know how that goes. I hope its not a complete disaster

So, I got my hair permed today. I'd never done it before, and I must say, while the process isn't the most enjoyable in the world, I am really happy with the result. It's hard to imagine what I would look like with curly hair, so I really didn't know what to expect. Everyone says it smells really bad...this doesn't smell *bad* but rather odd....I think it smells more than a bit like...corned beef seasoning. Yes, my hair smells like a highly spiced piece of meat I don't mind though. It's not as bad as the time I stank of burning feathers from something I did in shop class. I can't wait to see what everyone at school says.

I can hardly believe tomorrow is Wednesday already...the AP exams are closing in...I'm not thrilled about taking them. I'm sure they will be torture can't wait to have them over with though.

I put in a job application, the place wasn't officially hiring but they gave me an application anyway, so I filled it out. Its a start anyhow.

So on Easter we went to my grandma's for dinner. My gram had a stomach virus and was not feeling well, but my mom thought it was "side effects" from all the meds she's taking. Yea, well, "side effects" are not contagious. Last night I spent the whole night puking my guts out...amoung other things. I couldn't sleep a wink. I spent half the night eating popsicles because they were the only source of water that I (thought) I could get to stay where it was supposed to. Of course I threw them up all over the kitchen floor, but at least some of it got into my system. Dehydration sucks. I've now *attempted* to drink some regular juice (I've no spit left so with the popsicles I kept swallowing air. not good) and I'm hoping I don't throw that up as well. Man, am I ever thirsty and I can't drink say, a whole quart of juice in 10 seconds either like i'd like axiously awaiting mom to bring home that ginger ale

I was going to paint my room this weekend but it's raining, and my mom won't be home. Bah. So that will be put off until I don't even know when...

I'm probably going to miss school monday, I can't imagine being able to eat by then. That majorly sucks...because I have an art project that pretty much has to be done monday. There's no real leeway because its a clay project and getting close to the art show.

On a positive note, I've started a copper and brass sculpture in shop class. I hope it turns out as well as I envision lol It's really fun to work on though
  9. Lost_Warrior
So I woke up this morning, at about 11 00 (no sense getting up early on spring break of my senior year. Pretty soon i'm going to have to get a job ) and my mom is outside the bathroom door, she heard me get up and as I was brushing my teeth she told me she was sneaking into my room to get a hanger out of my closet. I find out she needs the hanger because the dryer won't turn on...we had clothes hanging in odd places all over the house...

The reason the dryer wouldn't start was because as mom was trying to bake bread, she discovered that the stove would not turn *off*. She turned off the power, but that also shut down every 220 line in the house, including the dryer and the oven. She tried to unplug the burner but it wasn't the plug in kind-it was hard wired. The wires were broken somehow.

So my grandad comes to help (that's who we call when we need something fixed) and he needs a flashlight. My mom gets hers only to discover that it has exploded. Literally. The batteries exploded and shattered the plastic outside part. So I fetch my flashlight from my nightstand.

We then discover that in order to fix the stove we need wire nuts. We don't have any wire nuts, so mom asks me to run over to the neighbors and ask if they have any. My one neighbor answers the door, laughs slightly when I tell him the story, but looks confused when I ask about the wire nuts and says he doesn't think they have any, but sends me to another neighbor who just happens to bring over three different sizes...and meets my grandparents. Nice guy we sent him candy later in the day.

So the stove is fixed and the bread is being very slow to rise as it is cold in the house, mom finally gives up and sticks it in the oven half risen. It turned out wonderfully. The one thing that went right today. We went to my grandparents for dinner, then came home and everything is back to normal...sort of. We still need to replace the 50 yr old countertop stove...there goes our "emergency fund" lol two burners still work but the wiring is just too old..its too risky to not replace it.

So how was everyone else's Easter sunday?

Lol computer is finally up and running. FINALLY. Took long enough. LOL I had a heck of a time with my internet connection, updating Norton and the like. I have to get ADAware too again. Finally got my IM back, and I'm working on getting my channel back soon (I lost my channel because I hadn't been on. They didn't realize my comp crashed). Lol so I should be more active again now.

Monty Python is on PBS on Wednesday nights. 8:00. XD

So, yesterday was my eighteenth birthday. Officially an adult. Wow...kind of a smack in the face lol.

I got my drivers license yesterday, on my eighteenth birthday and hid the fact that I was taking my test from my mom, so I could surprise my entire family with the news. I was going to wait 'till we were at the restaurant to tell them, but they took their jolly good time in us leaving and so I told them all while we were still at my house. Probably a good thing, because the way they reacted (screaming and jumping up and down and laughing) would probably have caused quite a scene I almost didn't pass the test actually, because I almost hit the curb on the way out of the parking space (and on practice driving before that I completely missed a "lane ends" sign...oh, what nerves will do to me ). But I did pass, with a little help from the Gods and all is well...I made offering of crackers with honey and milk as soon as I got home and my family departed (we don't have any wine in the house or I'd have given that, but crackers with honey seemed fitting).

My dad had flowers delivered (which was a huge surprise for me) and my mom gave me more art supplies. My grandma made me a blanket and the gift that means the most to me is a diamond ring given me by my grandma. My grandfather had given her the ring and I had been obsessed with it when I was a little girl. I had always stared at it, turning it on her hand to see the way the light sparkled off of the stones and she told me "it'll be yours someday". She pulled the box out of her purse and gave it to me, she told me "this isn't a birthday gift it's just something I wanted you to have" with tears in her eyes...it was the beautiful diamond ring I'd been obsessed with for so long. I had always admired it even to this day though I was no longer nearly so obsessed as I once was, but she never forgot her promise to that little girl...

The other night my neighbor surprised me with a job offering, he wants me to tutor his daughter for somewhere around $50 a week (not bad, eh?) I'm happy about having the job, but I'm not happy that it's necessary...because his daughter (my friend) is doing very badly in school which is why I now have the job

Cybele was also known as Magna Mater and was a fertility goddess from Phrygia. She was associated with the Earth and was worshipped on mountaintops. Her worship was "wild, emotional, bloody, orgiastic, and cathartic" and was led by eunuch priests (called Corybantes) who ritually castrated themselves and assumed women's identities.

She was also known as a goddess of caverns and fortresses, and of wild beasts.

In Greek Mythology Cybele was known as Rhea. She was renowned as the mother of the gods and her festival came first in Rome.

    Much more detailed info

I finished the article and it's waiting to be published, go me!
[edit]I just realized it IS published! thanks guys! It can be found on the UNRV homepage!

I got another 83% in AP Chem

I went to the Sportsman's Show in Harrisburg on Friday and let me tell you, it's worth a trip, but you really cannot see it in one day. It TOTALLY redefines the word "huge". (I got a pretty little piece of agate from the Yellowstone River there. It kind of looks like a lopsided arrowhead and it's all polished up. I turned it into a necklace )

I FINALLY turned my lab report in today, this isn't a good thing because it was due last Wednesday. I was a bit upset that I couldn't get it done before now but I'm glad it's done. Now I have an English project to contend with, which won't be too big a deal because it's art...but it's still annoying

My art teacher loved my newest paintings, I can't wait to do more but I don't think they'll happen tonight.

Oh yea, I'm building an Atlatl in shop (it's a device that can throw a six foot dart upwards of 100 yards...and sometimes at 85 mph) I'm really proud of it, I stained it black and painted red markings on it. It looks really cool. I'm going to do the same thing with the darts. (Most just left it boring wood colors and hardly finished lol). I'll post a picture when I get it done and bring it home
  14. Lost_Warrior
The rough draft is finally done! I've sent it to PP for editing, hopefully it will be published soon (and NO "sneak peaks" you guys ) YAY! I took long enouh with it...I really hope it turns out to be worth the wait. I may write another one sometime soon but lets get this one off the ground first

I've moved my bird and flower art into it's own gallery as I'm sure some of you noticed. (it's easier to show it to people that way...I have a few friends and relatives that love to look at my artwork ) and I'm hoping to be adding more soon.

I've got two study halls every day now, YAY I'll have lots of time to work on writing, actually do my chem homework, and read the books that my english teacher has been thinking I've read...

Oh yea, I got my report card today. 83 in AP chem again! YAY! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! WhOoT! lol I feel special...

Yesterday we got out of school...well...about 5 minutes early. They made an announcement that all after school activities were cancelled, and that all students were to exit the building on the bell. They then rang the bell five minutes early. We all knew something was wrong, but we were like, "what the heck, we ain't complainin'". I find out later that there was writing found in the bathroom saying something that the teachers found remotely threatening. Apparently, they were the only ones to find it threatening because I also heard that it had been there for close to two weeks before it was noticed. (I also heard another story, that a note was found along with several people's initials. ) I don't know exactly what happened, because they were reluctant to give any real information. I do know that they spent at least $1000 to fly in the K9 unit.

This morning we get to school, and there is a huge line at the door. They were searching everyone's backpacks and purses before they let them in the school (mind you, they didn't look terribly hard.) They seemed more concerned about cell phones than bombs (look out for that Verizon TNT. It's a new model I kid.) Basically, it was a big aggravation, (and a bit of a joke to the very annoyed students) but I really doubt they'll find anything. That's the way these things go...

I seriously hope this doesn't happen again. I'm not afraid, and as far as I know none of the students were either. It's just a major annoyance. I can't imagine what kind of ^&%&^ it would take to do such a thing...surely they only wanted to cause a disruption (some of us really ARE trying to learn. Plus, that K9 unit will probably come out of taxpayers' pockets.)

I AM going to start working on the research paper. (Unfortunately for me I tried to start it the week I had a whole slew of projects due and the like). If I don't report back with an update, smack me
  16. Lost_Warrior
I'm so happy...lol today in chorus I actually managed to use my entire range...I can sing anywhere from bass to soprano one on a good day (I normally have no break in my voice) but often I lose the top half of my range...

My scratch art of a retairus I'm making in art class is turning out very well, the hard part is over now I just gotta do the "floor" and the net, I'm really pleased since it was a rather ambitious first attempt at scratch art lol.

I found a new project for shop class, I think it will turn out really cool, it's a feather forged from angle iron, when I get it done if it's good I'll post pictures. AND the wood shop teacher asked me to make some more hooks for him (he already bought some from me last year) because he wants more for his shop. YAY lol

BTW my AP chem test is also done and over with (well this chapter anyway) and I don't know how good it is but at least its done.
  17. Lost_Warrior
Ok, so I went to see my dad's side of the family over christmas break. It was pretty hectic sometimes, but I'm really glad I went. I got to see Chronicles of Narnia, its a great movie, I highly recommend it. We got to the theatre late, but that only meant we missed the boring part where they set up the plot, and got there just as Mr. Tomnas entered the picture

SO I get home. Now, all of my teachers assigned work over vacation (well...many of them did.) It's the "you're going on vacation so you'll have plenty of time to do three projects and twelve pages of problems" syndrome. Unfortunately, I was going away lol. And when I got back I was too distracted by my new colored pencils to get any work done

So I'm working on my lab report. My dad gave me a new laptop (well..."new". The thing runs on Windows 95 and thinks its 1988 ). I thought I'd do my lab report on it, and hook it up to the printer (you know, so I can do my homework in bed. big mistake). The thing refused to print. WELL it printed SOMETHING, but it wasn't my lab report. You see, the thing must have thought it was simply hilarious to spit out about twelve pages with one line of nonsensical jibberish at the bottom

Ok, I think, so I'll just put a cd in the drive, save it to cd and print it on my computer. Yea. OK. The cd drive happens to be broken. Great. I find ONE floppy disk in my closet, the only one left in the house. I save it to the floppy though my pc doesn't have a floppy drive. I'll have to print it at school. When I get it to school, and try to print it, the disk is broken. It causes the computer to freeze up SO I take another disk home, and manage to get it on that disk. I finally get it to print YAY Of course, I get it to print the day after it's due

Now I'm finally done with the OTHER two projects, one a seven page chemistry report and one a simple english paper. And if I ever mention using that laptop again, somebody please smack me

Thank Gods it's friday. At some point I am thinking of writing an actual paper on Roman paganism (different then the things that have already been posted...well if I get around to actually writing it you'll see) that is if I can tear myself away from my colored pencils
  18. Lost_Warrior
I actually have an 83% in AP Chem right now! That's for the end of the marking period (meaning, that at least that will be on my report card. I say "at least" because I'm almost positive there are some extra credit points in there which have not been added in yet.) I was expecting like...a 70-something. But 83?? YEEEE!! ::dances::

    EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE!

    (ok, I'm done now, lol.)
  19. Lost_Warrior
Silence. The silence that lives inside of us. The calm after battle...before a storm...that little space inside of us that is so often forgotten, ignored, but never leaves. That space inside where joy, love, and hope go when fear takes over...pandora's box...that little space is the one good thing left at the bottom...listen to that silence inside you...it speaks without words...it knows nothing of words...the language of the soul is silence...it knows only one thing: "I am"...and knows no definition...just be...pure existance...and you will find the answers you didn't even realize you sought...

Forgotten. Too much is forgotten these days...when our laughter has been replaced by electronic beeps, our voices lost in the hum of machines...even our music is electronic, mechanical. You turn on the radio...and hear electronic beeps, keyboards and synthesizers...open the window. You'll hear the birds sing, the wind in the trees...music is life...life has music...

Color...does sound have color? Some say it does...I've been told my voice is blue...what does that mean? I don't know...I always thought of it as round... Sight, and sound, touch, and laughter...are they one in the same...to see sound and hear color...blue is clear...the sky is clear and bright...there's no way to prove that of course...there is no way to capture an audio recording of color...I suppose its like trying to explain "blue" to a blind person...they can never truely know...and neither can we...sometimes I feel like that...like I can never know...because I've never known...and don't know where to begin.

Blah...shallow people...I listen to my friends talk and all I hear is sports, or boys, or fashion, or schoolwork...just once I'd like to hear someone my own age ask "what do you want out of life?"..."what do you value?"..."what's most important to you?"...I may not be able to answer these questions myself...but at least I can understand them...do you know how you would answer those questions? I want freedom in life...maybe not freedom in the traditional sense...but freedom from the constraints so many try to place on us all...I want knowledge...maybe knowledge isnt the right word...I want to know what's inside myself...how to listen to that little voice...I want prosperity...and I don't mean money. I want the satisfaction of knowing that I accomplished something...fullfillment...health...love...How many people want "a good job, a nice house, a car and a family"? I value honesty, duty, honor, love...I value kindness and mercy...but not giving in...acceptance is not surrender, someone once said and I'm inclined to agree...What's most important to me? LIFE...life is important to me...noticing the little things...

No one seems to ask these questions anymore...although they'll ask "does my hair look ok?"...language has become shallow...just words...collections of syllables when put together matching a definition in a book...words that only really mean other words....what happened to the days when words carried a piece of the essence of that which they described? When words *were* the idea, instead of simply describing it?

Poetry...rythm to words...the ideas in poetry lies not in the words, but between them...in the barely perceptible spaces between the words...in the flow of it, the music of it...the overall effect far greater than the sum of its parts....similes...metaphors...alone these words mean nothing...together they mean the world...

There is life in the rustle of leaves, the glint of sun on the water...music in the raindrops, in the dripping, melting snow and cracking ice...music that in autumn bids farewell to the sun...and haralds its return as new life begins...

Belief...I don't have belief...I have knowledge...people ask me if I believe in God...I don't believe. I KNOW. When there is no doubt in your mind, it is not belief...when you wake up and look out the window and feel the presence...the leaves, in the sun, in the moon...feel the magic...and know its there...anything is possible...my home feels empty without my Gods...it is not my home without them, only a house...I carry them with me wherever I go...I've no need of a church or a temple...because they are there with me...everywhere I go is sacred...

Thank Gods this week is better than the last two. My ISP is being a pain but hey...whatever right?

I want to build an altar I'm starting to get farther into the Roman paganism as well as...well I'm a bit of a mix really. I worship both Celtic and Roman Gods to a degree...(I used to have an altar...but that was a long time ago)...I'm just thinking about where to get supplies for it lol...too much planning, not enough doing. I guess I'll eventually have to kick myself in the butt instead of waiting for the right thing....

I'm wondering what I was thinking taking AP chem, although I'm really glad I took AP english. That chem is going to kill me though, lol.

By the way, Trillian is awesome. It was confusing at first though. I accidentally lost some convos

I'm reading a biography of Caesar for English...and writing a review of it. It may be a while to wait for the review though, but I'll post it when it's finally done

My computer crashed, and I had to restore my hard drive. Read: lost EVERYTHING! That program I used to paint digital pictures? GONE! Some of my poetry and writing? GONE! Everything. GONE! I've been expecting this for a while, all I can say is thank the gods for restore cd's. I guess it's about time my computer got a good cleaning...but I've lost my instant messengers, and I'm not entirely sure when I'll have them back, so I may not be online for a while. And man, IE is slow. I'm gonna download FireFox again FIRST!!

Oh, and I also lost my extensive list of Roman links.

[Edit] It's still not working right. I think it will probably crash again. You won't see me around as much untill everything gets back to normal. I can't really even access my email. FireFox is also very slow, and it took me three tries to get it to download properly. I'm having all kinds of problems. ::cry::

Hehe got 2 or 3 more inches of draw length on my bow...my arrows (the ones made for my compound) are almost too short now I don't think I'll be pulling it back any further than this though...I'm surprised how fast my arms are getting stronger (and also that I have absolutely no stiffness from it...which IMO is really amazing). Arrows still keep going to the left most of the time though...can't figure out why they are always going to the left.

Fall is here. You can see it in the trees, feel it in the air. You can smell it in the morning dew. It rained today, it was the kind of rain that smells like snow. The wind is blowing through the trees. I love days like this. It isn't stormy, but there's a certain energy in the air that isn't there at any other time. Only in the fall and occasionally in winter. It's beautiful. I feel so alive when the weather is like this...

This week promises to be much better than last week.

I was away at my dad's this weekend and had a great time! We visited my grandad in the hospital (he broke his back and is not doing well ...) on Saturday morning, then after that we went to New Hope, where I got my ear pierced again...

    Shiny new inner conch piercing:

(and of course kick ass spirals as well).

Sunday was our picnic- we had an amazing time there as well! After that we had a Wii tournament- word of advice: Wii tournaments make it really hard to walk or do anything a couple days afterward! LOL It was so much fun though.

I found out my dad and Katie and I have way more in common than we thought. I'll probably be going back next month for my cousin's School of Rock concert.
