  1. I love Christmas. I hope everyone here had a very merry one My mom actually managed to surprise me for once, with lots of great drawing supplies (including a set of the ENTIRE line of Polychromos colored pencils...and really cool Derwent metallic pencils. Derwent is my favorite company for graphite and charcoal work, but their colored things are nice too) and did a (quick, 45 minute) sketch of a bird in graphite, tinted with the metallics and the colored pencils, which I am VERY happy with and I think I will do more in that style I also got a new little trinket, it's a bracelet with a piece of ancient Roman glass (those who know about ancient glass probably know about the shinyness that gets on it. Well one company decided to make jewelery out of it. I may post a picture of it in my gallery, along with a few other things before too long). I love my new little piece of glass! I also got an archery target which I desperately needed, the decrepit haybales were killing my arrows You know what makes me most happy? Everyone loved my gifts. I made them myself (all but one, but that one I sort of made as well) and I'm really glad that my time spent was well spent. With the exception of the one, I had at least an hour of time in each gift, and I love to see the look on everyone's face when they open it. The one I had the most time in was the forged feather, because of the steps involved in making it, and the fact that I have less natural talent and it takes more time for to do ironwork than it would take many people who were good at it.
  2. Well now, it seems I've been neglecting my poor little blog over here in the corner... I went to see my Dad and the rest of my family for Thanksgiving, that was fun I got tons of cool stuff while I was there. Early Christmas presents, because we didn't know if I would be able to make it for Christmas (our weather turns nasty in the winter). I painted Christmas balls for my dad and my aunt, I couldn't post them before in case they happened to wander across this site...but at some point I will. I got a really cool sword and dagger from my dad, and a few other things, namely very nice clothes and a terrycloth bathrobe (which I love). I got to spend time with my Aunt Patty and my little cousin Jenny (who is not so little anymore but still my little cousin..and also an amazing singer BTW does plays and such and sings every chance she gets). I stumbled into an amazing prom dress, which my mom-mom got me for Christmas and my Aunt got me shoes to match. I'm very happy about it, I can't believe the circumstances under which we obtained it I've gotten a new art program, as you have probably been noticing I've been uploading a very large number of pictures in the last few days...apparently some of you really like my work as well though it still has some problems I'm hoping to improve. At first I was upset that it wasn't GIMP but once I started actually using it, I've found that the features it does have are much better used, with much more control, and I can do things I could never do with the other program. I can't do as much funky stuff, but what I can do is much better quality, so I am quite pleased with it. The new miracle program is paint.NET if anyone is interested. The methods necessary for some features are a little backwards from what you would expect, but the results seem to be top notch Of course, it isn't as good as something like PhotoShop but for a free program downloaded in just a few minutes, its great (and it isn't as...quirky...as GIMP either. It runs much better...knock on wood...doesn't take as long to DL and set up either). So...yea...I'm back to late nights of making avatars and banners I'll never use but I love playing around with it...just to see what I can do I can't believe it's Wednesday night already...these days off of school have really thrown me off...not that I'm complaining. When I actually think it's Wednesday it will be Friday...and I'll be pleasantly surprised
  3. I actually have an 83% in AP Chem right now! That's for the end of the marking period (meaning, that at least that will be on my report card. I say "at least" because I'm almost positive there are some extra credit points in there which have not been added in yet.) I was expecting like...a 70-something. But 83?? YEEEE!! ::dances:: EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! EIGHTY-THREE! (ok, I'm done now, lol.)

    Snow

    Yesterday we had the first real snowfall of the year. We had an assembly at school, meaning we did not go home early (the presentation was painfully loud by the way...I had my fingers in my ears and it didn't help). Because we did not go home early, the buses could not get to the school because of roads being closed. My bus left about the time I should have gotten home. We got stuck at one of the stops, and I hear that after I got off they got stuck AGAIN When I finally left, the power was going out. Why didn't they re schedule the assembly instead of risking all of our lives for a stupid presentation? I liked the presentation but it was not worth that. I swear, sometimes people just don't think. By the way I live in a tiny mountain town where snow is commonplace and the roads are NOTORIOUS in the winter...a good number of them aren't even paved, let alone maintained. So again...
  5. Thank Gods this week is better than the last two. My ISP is being a pain but hey...whatever right? I want to build an altar I'm starting to get farther into the Roman paganism as well as...well I'm a bit of a mix really. I worship both Celtic and Roman Gods to a degree...(I used to have an altar...but that was a long time ago)...I'm just thinking about where to get supplies for it lol...too much planning, not enough doing. I guess I'll eventually have to kick myself in the butt instead of waiting for the right thing.... I'm wondering what I was thinking taking AP chem, although I'm really glad I took AP english. That chem is going to kill me though, lol. By the way, Trillian is awesome. It was confusing at first though. I accidentally lost some convos I'm reading a biography of Caesar for English...and writing a review of it. It may be a while to wait for the review though, but I'll post it when it's finally done
  6. Just when I thought my last two weeks had gone *completely* down the hole, I get this call from my dad "Go to Circuit City and pick up your new computer" (or something to that effect). He ordered me a computer that I could pick up at the nearest Circuit City. And he got me 512 Megs of RAM!!!! (Now off to download FireFox)
  7. My computer crashed, and I had to restore my hard drive. Read: lost EVERYTHING! That program I used to paint digital pictures? GONE! Some of my poetry and writing? GONE! Everything. GONE! I've been expecting this for a while, all I can say is thank the gods for restore cd's. I guess it's about time my computer got a good cleaning...but I've lost my instant messengers, and I'm not entirely sure when I'll have them back, so I may not be online for a while. And man, IE is slow. I'm gonna download FireFox again FIRST!! Oh, and I also lost my extensive list of Roman links. [Edit] It's still not working right. I think it will probably crash again. You won't see me around as much untill everything gets back to normal. I can't really even access my email. FireFox is also very slow, and it took me three tries to get it to download properly. I'm having all kinds of problems. ::cry::
  8. I am now finally able to draw my bow back far enough to aim the arrow AFTER I draw it *lol*. It's working pretty well, but I have a big "arrow going to the left always" problem. Hit the center a few times though Hm...interesting new blog layout. Confused me for a min there. It's all good I kind of like it now that I figured it out. It's actually easier.

    Sick :(

    This has been the worst week like, ever. One of my pet chickens is very sick, I have her in a cage in the basement hoping she'll get better but it seems highly unlikely. She is so covered in mites I can *not* believe it. Come within 5 feet of her cage and you're likely to have them.She won't eat and its gotten to the point that I kind of wish she would just die, she wouldn't feel sick anymore and there's only so long I can handle taking care of her. And I've never seen so many mites in one place. I gave her another bath this morning but when I put her back in her cage the darn things started crawling out of her feathers again...

    What The....? Lmao

    Hehe well, I was shooting my bow again today and I seem to have developed muscles faster than I could have hoped. My fourth day shooting it and since yesterday I have managed to get two more inches of draw. (and shooting this bow is stopping the "clicking" that my shoulder had been doing when I moved it. The compound bow seemed to make it worse, but its drastically improving now...I guess because of the strengthened muscles. Somehow I don't even get stiff arms )I don't know how this happened, but I missed the bales (no big deal, I do that all the time). On the next shot, the arrow hit with a distinctive metallic "clink" and an arrow came flying, nockless, back towards me (about twelve feet back). Somehow I missed, twice in the same spot, shot my own arrow, and the arrow that got shot, not the one that hit it, came flying back. Except for a missing nock, both arrows are unharmed. Lightning never strikes twice, right? I had been missing one of my arrows that had gone into the bushes and I could not find it. I fired another one. "Clink". What the? I did it AGAIN! Same thing! Only, this time the arrow did not fly as far back. I found my missing arrow though. Except for the missing nocks though (which I've replaced) the arrows are fine.[edit] today I found a giant rock buried under the ground behind the target. It was still pretty weird though, especially the second time when I found my missing arrow...and the one that I found in the bushes was right where I had looked before and found no arrow...I also can't figure how bouncing off a rock would break the nocks. (I also have to find a way to get a broken nock off of an arrow lol)

    Yippeeee! ::dances::

    I got an armguard from my mom, and my gram gave me a shooting glove, so I was shooting my longbow again today. I CAN HIT THE TARGET!! YAY!!! I figured something out-if I aim *first* and then draw the bow, it works alot better. I just have to be able to keep the bow still as I draw it, that's the challenge. ::happy dance::

    Bowhunters' Festival 2

    I went to the festival with my grandparents (it didn't rain) and got all the stuff I needed for my bow. I met Tom Jennings (inventor of the compound bow!) and he signed my ticket. That same ticket won a door prize worth $725! That NEVER happens to me! I'll never win anything again in my life now! :PMy host has assured me that the company changing hands will not affect service. I can't be sure, but I'll take his word for it for now.

    ::curses::

    OK, I didn't expect to be an expert immediately or anything, but you'd think I could at least hit the darn bale consistantly by this point! I mean, I've been shooting this thing for hours! Oh, and must get tab or glove and arm guard. My arm is PURPLE from 4 inches above my elbow to about...5 inches above my wrist! :lol:I think I need to stop being so hard on myself

    ::growls::

    Well, my forum got back up and running very quickly, thanks to my excellent host. The only problem is, now my host is selling the company to someone else. This could mean that its going to get better, or worse, or there's the rare thought that it may stay the same. I hope it gets better, or at least stays the same, but there's the possibility that I could lose my board, especially if the new admin decides to make the site *not free* anymore (which IMO would be a dumb move. But you never know). I already had to move my board once, every single post, by hand, because my host was charging for backups. I thought Greatboard was an excellent find. How was I supposed to know that the owner would sell it about a month after I got my board set up??I shouldn't have used Phpbb....I must be the world's worst admin lol

    Bowhunters' Festival

    I was going to go with my friend, but it's raining! that's no fun!I wish my grandad would find out if the bowshop around here can fix up my good cedar arrows...

    Technical Difficulties

    Is anyone else with a Phpbb forum having problems with it? My entire host is down, as is my friend's. Even the support forum is down, there's nothing I can do. Got lots of study hall today, I hope I can get at least a good part of my lab report done at school. I don't mind doing the english essay at home. I think my mom thought I was a bit strange last night...I was doing an excercise to strengthen my diaphram for singing...it involved putting two really big books on my stomach while lieing on my back to strengthen my breathing. THREE MORE DAYS!! Lol...

    Bugs

    One of my chickens has bugs (tiny, little mites. Ick!) and she won't eat. I thought she just wasn't hungry for a while, because she hasn't been eating, but I picked her up and she (once the heaviest) now only weighs about half a pound! And she never preens, not that she ever did I'm really glad I get to write an english essay on my New Favorite Poem (Ulysses by A. Lord Tennyson. I posted a snippet of it here...I could write a whole essay on just that snippet lol). I'm starting to like this AP English thing.GAH now I feel like I'm covered in bugs. Even though I know I'm not (anymore than the usual human being I mean) ::edit:: she'll eat slugs I wonder if she's starting to molt?

    Tgi...s?

    Thank Gods it's Saturday. I'm really glad I got out of going to my cousin's Bday party...it's like a four hour drive both ways to get there...and stay in a cramped house with a bunch of small children running around. Fun. Although the only reason I got out of it is because my mom is sick and I'm really not happy about that I'm thinking of doing a series of drawings or paintings of the Roman Gods. I love Greek and Roman mythology although for some reason I never got around to doing any art involving it. I'll post them in the gallery as I get them done...I need some more Roman stuff in there!

    Thank The Gods

    I just heard from my friend, the one who I hadn't heard from in forever and was very sick. He's doing well, just didn't have access to a computer for a while. Haven't been having the greatest of days, but that one email just made my night!
  20. Guest

    Yay! ::dances::

    I DID get the bow...A WEEK EARLY!! and I have no clue how to aim it, but I can manage to hit the bale, even if not the target I'll learn...because it was a struggle to make myself put the thing down, even though I have permanent grooves in my fingers now hehe. Stringing and unstringing WAS a real treat too :lol:Boys in my shop class "helped" and basically ruined two of my projects...

    Yet Another Boring Day...

    Today I am thankful to be alive. I am thankful for that which the gods have given me. I just wish I didn't have to go to school. School= SSSD^3 :PI still haven't heard from my friend, and I'm a little worried but, hey, no sense worrying. If I had kept up the amount of nervousness I had before, I'd be dead by now.I'm moving to Minnesota in the fall (I might have mentioned it?) and I can't wait. I don't handle cold well so it will be an adjustment, but there are so many good things waiting there for me...I'll just have to bundle up! I *am* in fact getting the bow I wanted. It should be here next Wednesday, although I may need some more things for it before I can actually shoot it (arrow tips for instance-I have no clue if the arrows I ordered come with them.) My friends are all saying they are waiting to get to watch me try to string a bow... apparently they think it will be a complete laugh riot.
  22. Guest

    Yay!

    Looks like I *AM* going to get the Viper! YAY!!!! :: dances:: I'm actually awake and happy at this moment, which I'm sure will change as soon as I step foot in school On a more serious note, I really hope I hear from my friend soon. Last I heard he was really sick, and I haven't heard from him or his wife in over a week. I was really worried about him, but now I'm not. Somehow I know he's either OK or at peace. I just wish I'd hear from them.
  23. I can't stop thinking about that Viper longbow in Cabellas. I hope I do end up with it, and soon, before winter (I don't know of an indoor range around here, and we get alot of snow in Northeastern PA). I may end up with some used thing (I put my Pap on that one...it'll give him something to do) but I WILL HAVE ONE and I will not move to Minnesota next fall untill I do.I should get to bed, because I have school tomorrow (I wish I knew why I was taking two AP courses when I'm not even going to collage...I'm starting to regret that one lol) but I'm really not sleepy, so I guess I'll stay up and work on this some more untill I get tired. Or maybe I'll go play my flute. Staying up may just make sure I'm tired enough tomorrow to get to bed at the proper time.
