Evidence of Roman oyster farming found in Northern England

Here is an article that suggests a Roman oyster production site has been found in Humber located in Northern England.

I’m not sure how they dated the oyster shells to the Roman-era, however. It is interesting to see, nevertheless, that the Roman demand for oysters extended to the far reaches of the Empire.

According to the agency, large quantities of "misshapen oyster shells" were found, supporting the theory that they grew naturally on a shell reef rather than being grown on ropes, which was a common practice at the time.
