I dont understand why this lady was so frightened at the very thought about "free perfume". There was one good way to make clear this question. Take perfume and give to experts to check it. But she prefers to spread panic among other women. How it is stupid though.

Hmm, that sounds a bit worrying, both the message it gives and the thought that there are people who may make hoaxes like this on the net. unfortunately, it's a bit too common these days. The other day i received multiple emails asking for credit card details etc. as well as invitations to parties in Sydney, when i live 800kms west of there lol

I have heard of similar things happening. Officials at my school told me about it happening *inside* the school. Someone will give you a "scratch and sniff sticker" or tell you to lick a piece of paper (why you would lick a piece of paper I have no idea) and it turns out to be drugs. (Usually, I think, cocaine but I'm not sure)

Snopes is a good resource as PP pointed out.

Ether isn't one sniff, *bonk* you're out. Trust me on that kiddies. (And no, you don't want to know)

As far as licking something, once you get past the big question of why, maybe they were worried about LSD? Small dose and easily absorbed lingually, but I don't think it would be enough to make someone trip. Besides, unless you want to loseit or imagine the starry field of fireflys as the sky turned upside down, acid will just keep you awake and make you light sensative...you can still do what you want. (Again, you don't want to know)

I do find the occasional "OMG, how did we miss this!" e-mail entertaining though.
