Sack of Rome (410 CE): Alaric I leads the Visigoths in the first sack of Rome in 800 years. Theodoric the Great (493-526 CE): Ostrogothic king who ruled Italy with remarkable administrative sophistication. Kingdoms They Founded Visigothic Kingdom in Gaul and later Hispania (capital at Toledo) Ostrogothic Kingdom in Italy (capital at Ravenna) Both kingdoms blended Roman law, Christian religion, and Germanic traditions.
