guy
Archaeologists excavating in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, have uncovered a significant Roman-era necropolis containing 135 burials. The work took place ahead of residential construction at a site just outside the defensive walls of ancient Augusta Traiana-Vereia, the Roman city beneath modern-day Stara Zagora. The necropolis dates from the late 2nd through the 5th centuries AD. The most noteworthy find was a child’s burial, oriented west to east, containing two gold earrings and a coin (pictured above). Identified as an antoninianus of Emperor Aurelian, the coin was minted at Serdica (modern Sofia) between AD 274 and 275, allowing archaeologists to date the burial to that period. https://www.heritagedaily.com/2026/10/roman-necropolis-with-135-burials-uncovered-in-bulgaria/159689 Edited 4 hours ago by guy
