Hello

I am researching about the late roman army.

I have done some sketches and illustrations about diferent troop types, including clibanarius like this one.

99b.jpg

It depicts a 3rd century AD clibanrius.

However I would like some imput about the correctness of his equipment.

Can anyone be of assistance?

Happy new year to all members

Good work J P Veira. Just checked out your slide show. Very impressive. You actually have a vast subject on your hands so I'm sure there's plenty of work out there for you to do! I was wondering if you could put in some Byzantine infantry figures out there? Another special interest of mine would be Hebrew and Philistine uniforms from Biblical times.

Hello J P Veira.

I must agree that this is a very good illustration. I was wondering if you could send me others through email as well. Especially if you have any from the Justinian era, c. AD 525 - 565 ?

Fantastic stuff. I particularly liked the Assyrian vs. Arab picture; terrific action pic. I also liked the Etruscan/ Roman picture - the contrasting morale of the high and lower class troops is depicted beautifully in their facial expressions!

Hello Neil

Thanks for your observations.

I always try to make the faces expressive and to convey the precise emotion.

I am trying (as in Arabs Vs Assyrian) to do more action illustrations.

Best regards
