  1. Haha interesting clip ;] I've never seen this show before 0.0
  2. The shows seem quite attractive...but very expensive indeed = = Is there any way to get some secondhand products?
  3. Too bad ... I have a similar story to yours; I am not studying history at school now because the education system for Form 4 (=grade 10 in UK) students have to choose between studying science or art, and I choose science as it would provide me a brighter future, but I really like history more.
  4. I wonder can my name be changed to a Roman name...coz it contains only 7 letters...(I do not have a middle name) but anyway try this snae ium
  5. Nice review. "as history was dismissed as during my remote school days" Why was that? btw the book cover is cool =)
  6. Haha...it's interesting. My history teacher has a little nickname called 'turtle' only because she walks and talks very slowly. But she is my favourite teacher of all.
  7. Oh yes. I remember from the exhibition, the origin of their language is Greek, and its words are formed from alphabets.
  8. How could I have forgotten about Alexandria, it must have been very impressive with its Library, Pharos, it's many unique inventions, from automatic sliding doors to automatons that had advertisments and even the little stuff like slot machines. Even in the first century BC it made Rome look like a dump in comparison. Like Cicero once said "I have always dreamed of seeing Alexandria..." Library? You mean bibliotheca? Never heard of famous library in Alexandria...
  9. The Great Wall that we are familiar with today... stone walls with battlements etc., was built between the 14th and 17th centuries and really isn't comparable to the ancient "wonders of the world". There is also much debate about the wall being visible from space. I won't go into all the details here, but wikipedia provides a good introduction. I guess I am more familiar with Chinese history than you. The Great Wall was built in the Qin Dynasty (around 3th century BC). The later parts of the wall was built in 14th century in Ming Dynasty. It was built because there were battles between states so Qin Shi Huangdi built it in order to defend his state from the attack of the others. Is it ancient enough? Yes I am well aware of the wall's history. What I am suggesting is that the original wall, which is no longer visibile (it was essentially a large earthwork rampart), was not nearly as impressive as its more modern counterpart. I hardly find a rammed earth barrier to be equivelant (no matter how long and effective it may have been) to the other 'wonders' in cultural grandness and/or engineering achievement. okay I understand. It's my mistake, I have misunderstood your viewpoints. Just trying to make a suggestion, since I am a Chinese and I would like to help to build the name of my own nation.

  11. I choose the pyramids, but with the Great Wall of Beijing, China in my mind. Should the Great Wall be the greatest? It is the only one construction by human being that can be seen out of space.
  12. Yea it would absolutely a great discovery. Where did they find that? Etruria?
  13. Is Istanbul really a very beautiful place? Books always say that but I do not think it is quite in the show. Is there any Christian church, or there are only mosques? In the show the buildings seem to be very "Islamic" or very "Middle East"...
  14. Very nice animations, strong background music. Would it be hot?
  15. The costumes and the sets of most of the historical films do not always match with the time =w=...I would like to watch the English trailer, the one I posted is an Italian one.
  16. Here is the trailer The Last Legion Trailer
  17. It sounds reasonable. At first I thought understanding other cultures is only for studying the barbarian attacks (and obviously I am wrong...) The Etruscans were the Roman's forerunner, or completely two different races? Were the Etruscans related to Ancient Greece?
  18. I saw a diadem in the exhibition and would like to ask how this thing is to be wore click here for the picture
  19. I am deciding whether to study the Etruscans or not, and I want to ask is this part of history important, or would it help in studying Roman history? I went to a Etruscan excavation exhibition, but am not quite interested in it. Should I just simple skip it, or study it?
  20. What does that mean? Is there a movie with such scenes? Apologize for I seldom watch historical films so I am not very familiar with them =w="
  21. I agree with that. Personally I like Antioch the most (but sadly nobody votes for that ). The most interesting thing about the city was the quick spread of Christianity, that makes Antioch a rival to be the cradle of gentile Christianity. It was also the only one of the four major Roman city that did not survive until now.
  22. Ya, Mac is good. Check out the "Torche'" TV ad on Apple.com =)
  23. I would recommend With Their Eyes. This book tells not the incident of 911 but the feelings of the people who experience in it.
  24. It is very sad for he died so early. I was astonished when I heard the news.
  25. I would think this is rather like a joke. Actually when they wanted swords, would they patronize some designated swordsmith or just randomly find one on the street?
