  1. as far as I can tell it's the Civilization Fanatics forum that made it. If you really want to look into it the whole discussion probably began when both empires began to know the existence of the other side, so we might as well blame them for existing ;)

Really, I don't see why this discussion should be locked, unless people starts pissing each other off.

I blame you for saying that. <_< Lol just kidding.

How can i piss you off so PP can lock this thread, Anthrophobia?

EDIT: And yes, Fatboy, shame upon you! :D

  2. Centurion: What's this then? Romanes eunt domus? People call around marnays they go the house?

Brian: It...it says: "Romans go home."

    Centurion: No, it doesn't.

    Brian: Aih.

Centurion: What's Latin for Romans? Come on!

    Brian: Aih! Aah! Romanus!

    Centurion: Goes like...?

    Brian: Anis?

Centurion: Vocative plural of anis is...?

    Brian: Ani?

    Centurion: Romani...Eunt? What is eunt?

    Brian: "Go"! De...

    Centurion: Conjugate the verb "go"!

Brian: Aah...ere, eo, is, it, imus, itis, eunt.

    Centurion: So eunt is...?

Brian: Aah, ehm...third person plural present indicative. Ehm..."they go".

Centurion: But "Romans go home" is an order, so you must use the...?

    Brian: Aih! Imperative!

    Centurion: Which is...?

    Brian: Ehm, oh...oh, ehm...i, i!

    Centurion: How many Romans?

Brian: Aah! it's...plural, plural! Ite! Ite!

    Centurion: Ite.

    Brian: Aah, ah.

    Centurion: Domus? Nominative?

    Brian: Ah, ah?

Centurion: "Go home", this is motion towards, isn't it, boy?

    Brian: Ehm...ehm...dative sir?

    Sword: [slinskt]

Brian: Aih! Ooh! Not dative, not the dative, sir! Nah, aah! Ooh! The...accusative! Accusative! Aah! Domum, sir! Ad domum!

    Aah, ooh!

Centurion: Except that domus takes the...?

Brian: Aah! The locative, sir! Aah!

    Centurion: Which is...?

    Brian: Domum! Aah, ah, aah...

    Centurion: Domum...um. Understand?

    Brian: Yes, sir!

That was my favorite part in the movie, but to remember the entire script of that part i had to look it up online...

  3. Okay i said "damned Picts" in a playful manner, i even added a smiley after it. Ill just say i was looking at the Picts in a Roman perspective, as they continued to raid the wall, and even past it. I really have nothing against the Picts. :P

Btw i meant the Scots came from Ireland (i believe) and took the Picts out of power in Northern England.

taking offense to someone saying "damned picts" just cuz youe english is like taking offense for being called a damn gaul and living in france... or even being called a damn prussian and living in germany... kinda rediculous

Damned Carthaginians... (not intended at you skel, lol)

  4. The Oliphant is a fictional character from LOTR, yes, but that is actually a CHEAT CODE in Rome Total War to make the War Elephants 40% bigger in the Campaign. Technically it isnt a unit.

Anyway, the fake unit is still the Druid. lol :P

  5. Okay Rome never fought China, Rome never will fight China, and the more you guys argue about it wont bring them to rivalry. We dont know who would win, most of the people on this site do not have an education for the Chinese way of battle, thats why we're on a Roman forum. And most of the people on the 'Chinese' forum probably do not have a very great Roman education.

Fact of the matter is, ive seen many biased opinions on this thread, and biased opinions tend to give false information. Besides, im tired of seeing these Chinese fanboys (no offense ;)) rant about how great the Han army was, because apparently not all the facts are known about that said army.

In conclusion, this thread is bringing me to insanity. :D

  6. Not far more intelligent than my peers unfortunately, my GPA rounded out to a 3.7 last semester. (4 As, 2 Bs)

I just enjoy history of all kinds, especially Roman-era. I think im the only student in the school who reads the history textbook for 'fun'. :o

EDIT: By the way, i am studying in America. :P

  7. User amcrazyjus, sorry if it seemed like i was insulting your grammar in any way, i said grammar* to correct spartacus, seeing as he was so busy with yours. :P

Again my apologies, just dont see too many people replying to themselves. Im only fifteen, i make mistakes, as do all of us.

By the way, didnt legionaries get paid in salt? I remember hearing that somewhere... :o

  8. So, why would past commanders spend all the money, and all the time to equip their soldiers with armor if it did not enhance their fighting ability at all? Sounds just a tad farfetched.

By the way, if armor doesnt work then why would there have been the Cataphract, a heavily armored cavalryman, and why was it so much more effective than average shock cavalry?
