  1. I don't know what symptoms would give you spots and have you foam at the mouth. Could poison do that? In I, claudius, it was suggested he was poisoned or frightened to death. As for cipio's question about what would happened if Germanicus took over the empire after Tiberius left and all, if he got rid of Sijanus, things would have been much more stable, but that's from the personality I got from the movie about claudius.

  2. Hello everyone. I was just wondering if the sources said anything about who murdered Germanicus? I don't think it was Caligula. Not sure though, but he wiould had been a young boy at the time. What do you all think happened to him and who did it? I believe it could have been poison that killed him. Not sure.

  3. Okay. Let's just possibly close this debate and say that the fire happened by accident, which was maybe the case. We will never really know the real truth. The historians that have written the books liked to tell stories, so no one really knows. However, Nero did what he should have done as far as supplying people with shelter and food, but he didn't have to build a statue of himself and make such a large palace.

  4. This topic is very interesting. I'm of a mixed oppinion of what everyone is saying here. Somehow, this comes to mind. If Nero didn't start the fire, then why would he want to rename the city and call it after himself, build a palace larger than what the old palace had been, and make a remark like that. It seems as if he wanted something larger than life, and that he wasn't satisfied with what he had.

  5. I watched a documentary on the fire in 64 A.D. and I can't remember where they said it started. I think I do remember reading what one of the other members said about the fire starting near the circus maximus though. My question is, do you all think Nero was to blame? Sorry if this is sort of off topic. Lol! Even though he was south of Rome, from what I'd heard, he could have had others do his dirty work for him. On the other hand, the documentary I watched said that possibly one of the reasons the fire started was because the shops and things wern't safe from such things.

  6. I don't think they have any naration for I, caludius, but it would be cool if there was such a thing. I always thought it was cool how people on the forum would make up a game where they would ask questions about the movie because I learn stuff from it, like what Caligula wore and so on.

  7. There is a part in I, Claudius that I am confused about. When Messalina says to someone, "Take it to the palace. Tell no one that you have it, only that you want to see your father." And the person says that he will forgive her. Then they go and say, "He must see me. He must." Who was that person?

Thanks for helping me with that question if you all can.

  8. I've seen Caesar and Cleopatra but it's been a long time. It's been awhile since I've seen Quo Vadis and I'm looking for the dvd. The movie I apsolutely love is I, Claudius! It's awsome and very long to watch. The fall of the roman empire, now that I've never seen. The only thing that I wish they had in I, claudius were the advisers of Claudius, Calistus, and Vetellius.
