Good to see that you are getting into your stride all round.

Ladies Mantle, Agnus Castus and Dong Quai ...all emmenogogues (ie: the no longer viable endometrium is cast away "cleanly") .Pennyroyal would do as well.
-
Alchemilla vulgaris and Vitex agnus castus for you Madame. Possibly also Angelica siniensis and lots of cabbage.

Which once again, tells us that the history of recreational hallucogenics is not so young , or that in more calvinistic terms " the young have not invented as much sin as they thought". Personally I think ergotism is one of the most underrated factors in general (medical/demographic ) history , and that parasitism is one of the most commonplace yet fundamental disease parameters in all of mammalian history.

Beautiful!! Also very interesting about the uses of the herbs.
I almost wonder if the garden is *supposed to be* rather "run down" in appearance. I don't know...
It was simple neglect im afraid, the decorative "normal " beds around the corner were meticulously groomed.

Most interesting , if you can find healthy specimens I would be grateful to have images of :
cupid's dart, skirret, and bear's foot and any interesting appended information .
Hmmm, Skirret is Chinese and not (as far as I know ) grown in Europe until the 1500s, I wonder what the idea is?

How excellent, really fluid.

Ah what an interesting link, I will take a long look at these..avoiding the immediate tweeness.

Oh, that stuff grows around here somewhere! I know I've seen it, and always wondered what it was!!
Strew your bedchamber with it..its also called "Ladies Bedstraw"

Do you have a good source for these illustrations please? I was wondering if they followed the "Doctrine of Signatures" in some way, so far I can only see sympathetic use of colour. Certainly the actual herb renderings are excellent.

Nephele, I have an uncomfortable feeling that your mind works in a similarish way to mine.

The President can neither confirm , nor deny the presence of venomous reptiles (or monotremes) near the lifeless corpses' of his enemies.

It was I not the Great Pan! I will try to find the reference copied it from , I knew I had the poem as soon as I saw your blog entry.

hope it is not Morrighan as "washer of bloody clothes " (Nemain) that is your primary tutelary deity...you seem to be more Babdh (babe even), passing over the battlefield as a valkyrie.
I am the beginning
I am the end
I am life
I am death
I am war
I am peace
I bring forth life
and I take it away
My voice it is that is heard over the battlefield
My spirit it is that drives men to victory...or defeat!
I am the keening of women over their dead sons and mates.
I am the bringer of souls to the Summerlands
Wary be the warrior who seeth me washing in the ford his clothes stained in blood...for he shall know me soon enough!
I bring about change to the static life
I bring courage and passion to the heart
I inspire priestess and warrior alike
In some places, I am called: Macha, Minerva, Babdh Catha, Nemain, Kali, Athena
Know me...I am the Dark Goddess!

Thanks is truly in order to you, PP and Moon for donating your time to make this place run, and to Ursus for being 'The Enforcer'. Having been an admin on a large board myself, I know how much time and energy it can take. Thank you for making UNRV run as smooth as it does!
Ursus is in fact the "Dirty Harry" of Paganism. Make His Day Punks!

Youve done a hell of a job , this site is top notch.

I believe its the Thiamin in the yeast that is the key.
Ah, hence why I've also heard about B-complex vitamins helping. Well then why do the suckers still love me!
I hate to admit it but good old deet works for me (don't know about the ecosystem)
Likewise your body and mind are pure...due to healthgiving beer and wines.

Children have died from merely sucking the leaves. So only allow those children you really dislike to eat the plant. - Oannes Pertinaxus
Informative as always Pertinax
Do not , of course, allow valuable Slaves to consume the leaves!

I believe its the Thiamin in the yeast that is the key.On the other hand it also proves what nice clean blood you have (Violentillas attentions might be a bit suspect )

This was entertaining and of practical use! What say you about foxglove, Pertinax? I've got a garden full of the stuff and don't know what to do with it.

quite deadly..in the wrong hands.
Very beautiful, I prefer the flesh coloured variant to the white or purple, but the latter is the easiest to grow.Toxicity level 5, all parts toxic , cooking does not destroy the glycoside. Children have died from merely sucking the leaves. So only allow those children you really dislike to eat the plant.

Er , oddly yes. Bit gassy if you know what I mean.Only gather fresh Nettles away from roadside verges, they soon accumulate junk from passing vehicles if old.
