Is there anything else I should focus on?

 

Every tips/help is apprichiated and feel free to criticize my plan. Any form of critic is good critic:)

I would go back further to the Battle of Allia and the reforms of Camillus, which was the beginning of the reorganization of the Roman Army.

I would definately include A Companion to the Roman Army by Paul Erdkamp in your reading list since it includes several very good essays with recent academic theories and research over this period.

 

I would also suggest including Lawrence Keppie's The Making of the Roman Army: from Republic to Empire.
