Jhm718 4 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Old message In literal English: Rome will live forever. The language of Rome will also live forever. Let us speak in the language of the Romans. If you are able to read these letters, you ought to write. Long live Rome. New Message In Lingua Latinia: Librum meum completum verbis Latinis Anglicisque utar, nam discerno translationem requiri. In literal English: I will use my book filled with Latin and English words, for I discern a translation to be required. In real English: I'll use my dictionary to provide the subtitles. Also, pointing out any mistakes in my not quite perfected Latin would be greatly appreciated.
Primus Pilus 10 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Also, pointing out any mistakes in my not quite perfected Latin would be greatly appreciated. Pervelle iuvo, utut grammaticus debilitas.. Essentially... I wish to help, but grammar is my weakness. Which is obvious from that very weak sentence. I am limited to reading inscriptions and understanding basic Latin text, but writing and speaking is a completely different matter.
P. Cornelius Tacitus Germanicus 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Lingua mea non bona est, sed Latina amo. Lingua patriae meae est Germania. Amicus meus cum latinae bonus est. Anyhow, that's about the extent of my Latin abilities right now. I am studying Latin in class and have not yet gotten very far; however, I speak German very well if anyone is interested right me back. My agnomen comes from my abilities with German. ~Publius Cornelius Tacitus Germanicus
