How could I possibly forget this tribute to the man himself ?

Yes, in his younger days he was known as either 'God' or 'Slow Hand'. 'God' for the guys.

No, unlike all those other musical sistas, the Pointers' really are sistas. Originally there were even four of them. But after Anita left, June, Cute and Bug carried on as a trio. ( Those names are made up, in case you wondered, all the rest is the godgiven truth.)

Thank you for enjoying them. The Pointers Sisters are still very BIG in Belgium.

I couldn't get your link working from here, so I don't know what that is about.

Here are some other favourite musical sisters of mine.

The best girls group of the 40s.

Yes, Laverne (!), Maxine and Patty Andrews were also real sistas.

So this is what your parents / grandparents got up to in their wild days.

They won't admit to that now, of course.

andrew sisters - don't sit under the apple tree

" I am ignorant and that's why I'm happy! "

-- Patty Andrews

No, really, she did say that. I didn't make that one up.

Nice one, Nephe ! That's a real find. Never heard of them before.

And they look cute, I must say.

'Chiribim Chiribom', that's very nice.( Wonder what Hatsune would make of that.)

And 'Bei mir bist Du Schein' : much better than the Andrews Sisters.

So they certainly deserve an encore.

That's what I always say.

Not a nominee for best song ever. Just a bit of nostalgia.

taste - sugar mama

Believe it or not, I was there at the Jazz Bilzen Festival when this clip was filmed.

I have VERY fond memories of that. Ahh, those were the days.

'Taste' was one of my favourite bands at the time.

Why was it called a Jazz Festival ? That's a long story.

PS : thanks to Bernadette, who's blog brought it back to my attention.

I have no clue if it is the best, i just know it is one of the best i know....

Hey, lady, you got the love I need,

Maybe more than enough.

Oh, Darlin', Darlin', Darlin', walk a while with me,

Oh, you got so much, so much, so much.

Many have I loved, and many times been bitten,

many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied and many times I've listened,

many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings

I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Mellow is the mind who knows what he's been missin',

many many men can't see the open road.

Many is a word that only leaves you guessin',

Guessin' 'bout a thing you really ought to know.

You really ought to know.

I really ought to know.

All too true, Arti.

And another great find. Thanks.

If this doesn't bring a smile to your face, you're completely hopeless.

( move over Michael Jackson )

( very politically incorrect times they were )

One of California's many supergroups from the 60s & 70s

And here they are at the Kralingen Pop Festival in 1970. That was Europe's answer to Woodstock.

It seems there were about 200 000 people there. And yes, of course, I was one of them.

Can't remember anything about Jefferson Airplane's gig, though. No wonder, if you see and hear this.

The sound system was a complete mess during most of the festival. Much to the frustration of both the artists and the public.

The only clear memory from that overall pretty disapointing festival was Pink Floyd's gig. They had brought their own sound system which was excellent and they were the final act.

While they played the music from their then recent released double album 'Umma Gumma', dawn broke over the festival ground. A truly magical moment.

One of Texas' finest

They play a gig in Brussels tonight. If I was 35 years younger I would so be there. Now watching a few clips from my comfy chair will do.

( Those guys aren't much younger than me though, I think. Have to admire their energy.)

zz top - gimme all your loving

zz top - legs ( with carmen electra )

( for really dedicated male chauvinist pigs only )
