  1. Thanks for the reply Lacertus. Moscovy no matter what anyone says is truly a great defensive nation. I hope to visit Russia some day there's a lot of history that needs to be explored there. By the way I love the pictures.
  2. It appears Russia is more of a gold mine for history than I thought. Do you know how they got the Mongols out of their lands? I heard they used gunpowder but many sources seem to suggest otherwise.
  3. Now that's what I'm talking about! Well done M Porcius Cato
  4. How humiliating Sweden was my pick. :bag: Losing to a team that had a 2,000 to 1 chance of winning the cup to a team that had a 21 to 1 chance of winning it all. Having 11 to 10 men and about 20 shots at the end is so awful. The Trinidad and Tobago coach said we will not win the cup. Anyways, I think Trinidad played better than Sweden played bad. Sweden and England will advance but give credit to Trinidad they just wanted it more. Especially the goalkeeper. I think the best match is next, so far through this tournament. Argentina and Cote Divoire is going to be the most balanced match yet. The best of Africa to the best of South America. One game changes everything. Now to the pitch!
  5. No, I thought that people making others feel inferior was condescending. With that said Gaius I agree with you here it goes. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. It's too bad I guess head scarfs and no freedom of speech will be the new trend. Not publicly funding mosques or praying besides Allah would be the new 'sin'. I think Muslims should wonder what 'suicide' means and 70 virgins up in the 'promise land' that by the way never lose their virginity means before a 'sin' is proclaimed. What are they rubber? Too many Liberals running a country leads to disaster. If I was a Canadian Congressman I'd wonder what in the **** they are doing. By the way I hope there is not another Ayatollah coming and potentiall taking over the parliament. I lived up in Canada, they have no clue what is going on. Taking wide open risks will bread disaster. By the way I hope Iran gets destroyed in soccer tomorrow. Oh wait, is that also a sin?
  6. Don't make fun of the Cilician pirates they aren't cowards who hit and run. I think they had some idea what they were doing. However Al Qaeda and Zarqawi are mediocer at best.
  7. Can someone answer this question? How in the heck is Carthage related to the Phoenecians. If Phoenecia would be modern day Lebanon how did they find their way to Carthage, and make their home there? Were their people living there and just came under Phoenecian rule? Or was it uninhabited and just easily proclaimed a Phoenecian province. Is that why they were so good at sea? I find it hard to believe that modern day Algeria and Tunisia is somehow linked to Lebanon.
  8. Actually a lot of the Greek religious and mathematical ideas came frome Egypt, to Greece, to Rome, to Europe. The Egyptian trinity of Isis, Osiris, and Horus were represented in Greece by Demeter, Dionysos, and Apollo respectively. Pythagoras was a pupil of the Egyptian priests, where he learned mathematics and religion. Greek mercanaries and emigrants swayed Egypt more in the way of Greece. I think Egypt gave Greece the foundation of math and science, and the Greeks beeing very clever expanded. For example the mathematical equation of Π was described in Egypt as 3.16 later corrected by Greece as 3.14. Here are some sites that prove it: Egyptian Numerals to Greek Egyptian Heiroglyphs Influence Latin and Geek
  9. Thanks Viggen I really appreciate it. I found a cd that had all the description you told me of. I learn the words from someone and I repeat it judging my accent. However it does not tell you how to start I will try to buy it. Oh, I'm only 15 looking for a girlfriend so I'll try to go Greek. Opa! Thank you so much, you are the man with the plan!
  10. I can understand Italian POWs but I can't imagine German POWs. They look exactly like normal Americans. Actually German now is the most common nationality in America. I'm surprised no one mentioned the horifying events at Nanking. It was so bad a Nazi woman actually hid some Chinese. A Japanese man said, "The general gave me a mechate, and smirking I cut off the heads of the Chinese . There is no excuse for my behaviors that day, I was just a devil."
  11. Seriously, this is another great picture Pertinax. If you think this is bad you should see my pictures, absolutely TERRIBLE. I think you captured a difficult picture well. Where is this?
  12. Q Valerius how do you pronunce the eucharisto? Is it a gh sound?
  13. Here is something about it Germanicus. I think if the game would be decided on a penalty shootout there will be a lot of nail biting heart stopping action. As we all know there is nothing wrong with that. Shootout Anyways I remember when the opening game was between France and Senegal. They predicted it would not even be a competition, so the ratings were low. Senegal ended up winning 2-1. Hey the impossible can happen, watch every game you never know. Besides it happens only once every 4 years!!!
  14. Viggen, you're not old. Your just young with many years of experiece.
  15. I hear you Moonlapse, I'm starting to miss the Greeks and Romans. At least they were compatible. It wasn't.
  16. Ciro perhaps you are talking about the Legio X Frentsis. I don't know anything on the subject but here is a link, see what you think. The History of the Legio X
  17. Look, I'm Nostradamis: This thread will go to Tartarus. We're not trying to make fun of you, it's just it has been done so many times its unbelievable. The question is 100% opinion so you'll never be able to reach a common ground. Just arguments and not going anywhere with this will lead to confusion and mayhem. Some problems with your facts here. He was 21. Some accounts say this, however it has been said many times here that it was unlikely. China did not even have a million people living in a city until the 1100's. 100's of thousands but not millions in all likelyhood. Umm, no Caeser had more men at his disposle. Alexander's men numbered around 30,000-40,000 men while Caeser could field many men straight from Rome. If he lost it was no problem since he can easily get more, since Alexander was overseas fighting 600,000 waves of men each battle, he had to be a bit more conservative. He could field mecenaries but his main men gave him a distinct advantage. Caeser had armies of some 60,000-80,000 men depending on which battle. Considering they don't use complex maneuvers they were not better than the Persians in terms of tactics. Alexander was probably not assassinated. After he had been shot in Bengali with an arrow could be part of the reason. Also after his best friend Heaphestean died he felt like he had nothing to live for. Also a fever overtook him on his way to the conquest of Saudi Arabia. He was considered Zeus's son so if anyone killed him he would have to be very brave. Caeser was assassinated because there was one thing that Rome hated, and that was a master. Alexander's men were worshiped him like the pharaoh, like a God.
  18. It kind of looks like the Meditterranian.
  19. How about Copts in Greek meaning, 'the original Egyptians?' The thing inspiring about Egypt is that it stood the test of time. These are probably the greatest treasures in the world and I just want it to be used in the best manner. I remember the story that the Muslims tried to break down the pyramids, with a team of 7,000 men. They could not even chink it. That is what I love about Egypt, it's eternal and will remain so, as it should be.
  20. I believe they should return the Rosetta stone, King Tut's body, and anything that is important to the Egyptians. Thank God we made the pyramids, that is one thing the Europeans will never take with them.
  21. Oh come now that is completely irrelevent. A lot of Greek things were predicated from Egypt, so in essense they should return that back. If Alexandria goes back to Macedonia, then sure as heck America belongs to Britain. I think Hawass is doing a good job bringing everything back. Some were paid for but many more were, 'allegedly' never to return.
  22. Lacertus are you a photographer? I think you captured the canal of Venice nicely.
  23. You have to chech this out. Rinaldinho's playground
