  1. Yes Cinncinatus is a great story. Why the comment about Tiberius! Don't tell me you buy into that Seutonius/Tacitus hogwash do you?
  2. Caesar is VERY famous. The topic is NOT so famous. Pick another Caesar
  3. HAHAHAHA, you'll hate them even more after the match. Maybe we'll have another foodfight in the tunnel!!! And yes PP, a plug does refer to electricity, being the part of the cord that "plugs" into an electric outlet.
  4. It never fails to amuse me how people open attachments sent to their POP mail from people they don't know. I don't even look at email from people I don't know let alone look at their attachments. Basic security guys, rely on your own common sense rather than a piece of software you don't know anything about let alone how it works!!
  5. Varro hands down. He betrayed the confidence the Plebs placed in him after voting him Consul.
  6. How can a piece of software destroy a piece of hardware! Think about it
  7. Caesar was winding down physically toward the end and was recovering from illness when he was assassinated. Was he aware of the plot against him, unlikely. But he was aware of the rumours that his life maybe in danger. His physical condition may have been hard to accept for a man such as Caesar, someone who had been vigorous and energetic all his life. Eitherway, had he gone on the expedition to conquer Parthia and died en route, he'd still be remembered as a great Roman.
  8. Happy Birthday Rome. April 21st, Ab Urb Condita
  9. Look at the institutions around you and you could argue that it evolved rather than fell
  10. Great, an ex Anti-Aircraft gunner in the Luftwaffe as Pontifex Maximus. Caesar is laughing his ass off!!
  11. ...and it was written over the course of several hundred years!
  12. Hmmm, seems I should be a UK Independant
  13. If all goes well tomorrow we'll see Manchester United and Arsenal go through to the final of the FA Cup. Then you'll see me and Fatboy trading insults until United beat Arsenal 4-0 in the final
  14. It repeats on Saturday sometime. Visit the site for schedule
  15. Just watched it. It rocked!!!
  16. What the US lacks is something like Priminister's Question Time. I'd love to see GW getting verbally raped once a week in the Senate.
  17. Its not so much that Blair is bad, its the alternatives to him just SUCK. I would vote for anyone anti-French. Is there anyone like that running? I love the Elections back home though because they're done after 2 - 3 weeks. In the US, the elections or talk of them lasts 2-3 years. Its VERY boring.
  18. What the majority wants, the majority should get. The idea that a rich select few should govern me ticks me off to know end.
  19. Good choice and I see your point. I chose Gaul because it shifted Rome from being a Mediternean centric, to a Euro centirc empire. Gaul eventually becoming the seat of power and continuity to Western Europe.
  20. Vote and post your thoughts
  21. Not sure if you guys get channel 13 (PBS) but there is a documentary on Boudicca's revolt Thursday, 14th at 21H00 EST. I'll be watching. http://www.thirteen.org/watch/program_info...episode_num=101
  22. I don't agree with your choice. Anthony was certainly a poor administrator and would probably have squandered state funds. But you have to admire the role he played in the days immediately following the assassination. He was in no way involved with it. He was approached in 45BC by certain parties but did not endulge or didn't take it seriously. Rumours of plots, etc.. were common to Caesar's own ears. The fact that some of his adherants were approached isn't at all surprising, least of all to Caesar himself.
