  1. What if you already have your Roman name?
  2. Supervir would be the better choice rather than Superhomo - for both obvious and historical reasons.
  3. Except Bigus Digus isn't legitimate.
  4. I can't remember where I read it, but someone tried to link Philo's Therapuetai with Buddhists, although I think it has been thoroughly debunked.
  5. "I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me! Why didn't you believe me!?"
  6. Space Madness is definitely my favorite, but Rubber Nipple Salesmen comes in next. "Did my wife send you? Are you from the FBI? OK, so I made a mistake! Maybe I should make another mistake...maybe two more." And then of course, from the walrus: "Caaallll the poliiiice".
  7. A guess? Not quite. It's not merely a guess, but a carefully formulated theory to encompasses known facts supporting a series of tested hypotheses. It's no mere guess, and to lay it as such is a great dishonor to all scientists and anything technological you may own. Computers work because of scientists and physics. You can fly to China in less than a day because of scientists and physics. This stuff works because people took the time to work it out, not because someone "guessed" correctly. More technology given to us by "advanced physics" 1. Quantum Computing 2. International Space Station 3. Synchrotron Particle Accelerators Let me guess - all this was just "guessed" up, right?
  8. Ad victoriam is right, but is not correct. Praeter usually means "except" and beyond comes from that meaning - not very Rome like. "Ad victoriam et ultra" (or ultraque) are both grammatically correct.
  9. In fact, much of Washington's intelligence later came out and said the White House got the facts wrong. Valerie Plume ring a bell? The only sincere people were the ones duped by the President.
  10. For that, we should have taken out Syria, Egypt, Libya, Saudi Arabia, and other countries who have since succumbed. All evidence points to Saddam ridding his country of weapons of mass destruction, and yet we still bomb his country to smithereens (in the process taking out more civilians than Palestinian bombers have done in the past half century).
  11. It's the best attested period of the ancient world, thus we can get far more detail out of the Romans than any other ancient culture in the world.
  12. What's your point? Bush wasn't the only person who would have attacked. Actually, he made it a lot worse. Iraq hated terrorists; Saddam stamped down on them hard. But Bush made the world just a little more dangerous. Moreover, the Pax Romana was internal fighting - a civil war - yet foreign wars continued. No parallel.
  13. Er, did you actually read what I quoted above? I quoted the Bible, and you still don't believe me? What, do you doubt God's own hand? The Bible says that Sodom was destroyed because it didn't help the poor - who are you to call God a liar? Who's bragging? And do you have statistics on Republican v. Democrat charity, or are you making this up as you go? I suspect the latter. Jesus was a communist. Untrue. Not all communists were atheists. Those two statements contradict each other. Didn't you learn anything from the Medieval ages? Canada != America. Liberal Americans != Liberal Canadians. I wouldn't think you're that thick... Like Republican spelling? You're wrong biblically on both accounts. The Bible makes it very clear that unborn children are do not have souls and the Bible does not outright condemn homosexuality in any passage. What a caricature! You make it easy.
  14. You don't think so? If you turn it around, you get "neither is it incorrect" which is perfectly acceptable. I think you don't give them enough credit! How far south? It's pretty bad here in Memphis...
  15. What hath Lord Palmeston that neither the erudite counsel of King James nor the greatest playwright William Shaxpere of Stratford-upon-Avon hath? Surely we favor the latter! I daresay thou art wrong! Thy elementary paedagogue perhaps hath told thee that thou must needs never begin a sentence with a conjunctive, but beloved English careth not for such trivial nuances. Certainly it is not formal, but incorrect it is neither. If we may assume that we speak as we write, then There is quite a difference betwixt "proper English" and "correct English". I never claimed the former but only the latter. Hast thou ever read a true manuscript of Shaxper? And anon it shall arise again. Cordially.
  16. Yeah, vicious, like the smear campaign Rove ran against Kerry in 2004, or against McCain in 2000. You want viciousness? Pay attention, laddy. You're probably too young to remember the 2000 election, though, and perhaps even too young to pay attention to this past election... It ain't pretty - none of it is, actually. And to fact, we've never had an extreme leftist liberal as president - ever. And good riddance! Extremists on both sides are the worst kind of people - those who should never be elected ever. Unfortunately, the anti-Biblical so-called "Christian fundamentalists" (do these people even read the Bible?) have banded together to elect themselves a real right-wing NeoFascist as president. And it worked. Hoop-dee-doo. Sent off a bunch of good American men to their deaths fighting over oil - another thing I see you're woefully ignorant about. You really ought to pay attention. If tflex is sincere, then he is not conservative. Au contraire, his views in this thread are fascist. Only FOX news is good? What a laugh. Perhaps more should pay attention - Gallup poll showed conclusively that people who watch FOX news are actually more ignorant than those who watch other news channels. Fact. Perhaps not all, but definitely a majority. Most people watching FOX news still believed, at the time the poll was taken, that Saddam and Al-Qaida had intimate ties, contrary to what even the White House itself has professed. But of course, what do you expect when you watch a man who harrassed women and talked about a vibrator in his ass - none other than Bill O'Reilley. Talk about your Republican values! Partly right, partly wrong. Believe it or not, but Exxon made a killing in profit last quarter, while gas prices still rose. Wonder why, eh? They're screwing over the economy with impunity because they line the pockets of your rich congress. They could have lowered prices dearly, but it is not so. Not only that, but they're fighting tooth and nail against alternative vehicles - electric and alcohol-ran cars, instead of gasoline powered cars. The mass release of electric cars means doom to Exxon - you can imagine why they wouldn't want it released. "Them damn Canadians" probably don't want to destroy their country to fuel your excessive desires for a plastic economy. And on the contrary, the world is using over 100 times the amount of oil it was decades ago, and it keeps growing. There just ain't enough oil in the earth for the next 50 years. This is what happens when people watch popular television over reading real scientific journals. Oil, renewable? Yeah, in a million or so years. So sure, the earth'll be fine, but only long after everyone is dead, and evolution repopulates it (and hopefully perhaps intelligent creatures next time). Pay attention, laddy.
  17. Is this a joke? Republicans? Morals?? The same Republicans who lied about Iraq? The same Republicans who put a child molestor in Homeland Security? The same Republicans who put a cokehead and an alcoholic in the White House? The same Republicans who consistently lie and slander their opponents so they can take your money? Those Republicans? Ha! The same Republicans who disobey God's own commandments? Do you know why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed? Hint: ever read Ezekiel? Ezekiel 16.49: Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. These Republicans are the ones who keep trying to kill all forms of welfare, but God declared that the sin of Sodom was not helping the poor! If you're a (financially) poor moralist, then you're in the wrong party.
  18. Where have you been for the past two years? FSM is old news - I don't even see the pirates anymore. And yes, it's a parody.
  19. But at least I can speak correct English. In case you don't know - "you hath gone too far" is incorrect. It ought to be "Thou hast gone too far" or "You have gone too far", but never "you hath". But nice try!
  20. Am I the only one who sees tflex as satire?
  21. So ya saying I shouldn't worry about these trivial details?
  22. Commandment I - Thou shalt always heed the word of thy Latin God, Quintus Valerius Scerio, for he knoweth of what things he doth speak.
  23. That's all fine and dandy, but aedilis is singular - and nominative, no less.
