  1. Ah, so THAT is where the lyrics to "Aradia" (Inkkubus Sukkubus) come from!! I can appreciate the song much more since i know there is at least SOME basis in actual mythology. Of all of the Satanists I've known, I don't think two of them believed the same thing.
  2. Thanks for the link Nephele. Not wanting to get too far off into the modern side of things, but I don't think Luciferians actually equate Lucifer with Satan, do they?
  3. I actually do remember hearing that they did indeed believe that their planets were their gods, at least, at some points during history. I can't remember where I heard it though.
  4. That's a good thought too. I had been discussing this with a friend and we couldn't make sense of how it was Venus at night, but Lucifer in the morning, since we now know that it's the same star. (Planet, actually) Though that could make for a really interesting myth.
  5. Scary! I did an involuntary 180* turn down an icy hill last year. Wound up in the other lane...facing the right direction (for that lane)! I narrowly missed a tree. I don't know how. I was praying hard LOL. I think I had some help.
  6. Fair point Ursus. I suppose it's entirely possible that the star was Venus to one group and Lucifer to another.
  7. Ah, my mistake. I thought you were looking for pictures of the Gladius Hispaniesis. I misread.
  8. Ah I see. I did read something about the name Lucifer referring to the actual "morning star". Unfortunately I couldn't find much more than that. Thanks for the link. I find their viewpoint on the relationship between Lucifer and God interesting, though I don't know how much of it is true or not.
  9. An acquaintance and I were discussing Lucifer. She comes from a Christian background and didn't know anything about Lucifer as a Roman god and when I mentioned that he was known as the Roman god of the Morning Star, she asked me for more information. It occurred to me that I really don't know anything about Lucifer as a Roman god. Most of the information comes from a Christian viewpoint...and there isn't much mention of him on this site either. How much information is out there about Lucifer in Roman religion, and where can I find it? Anyone here know any more about him than I do?
  10. Here is a recovered Gladius Hispaniesis. This site has photos of the various blade types of Roman gladii. Hope that helps.
  11. How many of these wood studded walls survive today? Wouldn't the wood eventually rot, weakening and breaking down the structure of the wall over time? (or, conversely, did the stone and mortar preserve the wood by protecting it from the elements?) I'm also curious, as I'm not running across any pictures at the moment (although I've found many beautiful marble arches and buildings that were *once* marble faced), were the iron clamps visible on the finished building?
  12. Many of the more upscale buildings in Ancient Rome were faced with marble (from what I can discern this was usually done over brick). Where and when did this practice originate? And how was the marble attached? (one description of a building in Ostia states "brick faced concrete covered in marble". Would this be a layer of concrete, embedded with bricks, then another layer of concrete to hold the marble?)
  13. Good questions!! I don't know of any such research, but maybe Caldrail will know? Caldrail you around?
  14. Oh OK. Accident has slightly different connotations here.
  15. And why is it referred to as the "shoes accident"? Was it not intentional on Micheal III's part?
  16. Hey, if your balls aren't tightly screwed, they'll pop off at random times onto the floor....
  17. So they had two emperors? Or did Basil I basically just get "deposed"?
  18. I got *stuck* in the store room. LMAO
  19. As far as I know, no, he doesn't have more. I have no idea where my mom got it other than Ebay. Looks handmade, could be one of a kind (that would be so awesome!!)
  20. It's a dagger with roses on it. Solid silver. About three inches long, and HEAVY. I love it. Mom found it for me on Ebay. *grins*
  21. I finally got to change my new 14g earrings today!!! I put in my Shorty Goddess Spirals by Little Seven (actually called Shorty spirals but they're a smaller version of their Goddess spirals) And a close up: Those are actually 18g LeRoi flatbacks in the bottom holes. They're meant for labret piercings, mostly, but they work great for earrings. A little difficult to put in and remove, but awesome for long term wear - just make sure the balls are tightly screwed on every day. No post jabbing you in the side of the neck, no clutch back that is almost guaranteed to fall off!
  22. I ADORE Scarrow's work. Under the Eagle is excellent, in fact I reviewed it for this site. I have the last(?) in the series upstairs. I still haven't gotten to reading it! Crap I totally forgot! I should do that.
