Another awesome shot!
Do you know the ranks of the men with the (front to back) crests? I would think Optio, but as far as I know there's only supposed to be one optio
-
Those are beautiful! Man I can't wait until I can collect all this stuff
-
OH, lol I got'cha
I think "no time" wouldn't be a major concern as I'd imagine any medicus would simply rip the pants up the leg. It would take about two seconds, they must've gotten good at it
-
Not that it wouldn't hurt like a *&@#, but I'm glad to see the pliers have nice smooth, rounded points. They do considerably less damage going in than oh, say, needlenose
-
That's really cool. I didn't know they did this sort of thing at reinactments to
Do you know why they didn't remove the wounded man's pant leg before trying to get the bullet out? (and for that matter, why is the poor guy wearing sweatpants? )
-
wi-fi palm top? lol I've never heard of that. I guess it must be kinda like a palm pilot
That's awesome. I'd love to be able to make it my lifes work to hang out at reinactments and take pictures
-
That's very interesting, I thought they were larger than that.
Dude are you at this reenactment now?? If so, how are you on the internet?
-
Oh, I did not even see the abacus lol it's so tiny in the pic it kind of resembles a dirty old circuit board! Of course a circuit board has no place in the office of a Roman Architectus, so I was truely confused.
-
oh I see. I thought they were permenantly in there. Did they change them after every shot?
-
Nice solid looking square.
I recognize the compass, plumb bob and what looks like a scale, what are the other things?
-
What was olive oil doing in the ropes? Was it used as a conditioner? Tension indicator? Both?
I love these things
-
Nice! Pertinax I love your educational (and entertaining!) photographs...
I wish there were some of these things around here. We have PowWows but no Romans
-
You know, I don't usually like 3D renders, but this is actually pretty cool!! Nice work!
-
Lol the guy in front looks like he's going to cry!! Centurions are nasty... :(
Do I detect armor from Museum Replicas? Looks like it...(lol I have studied that catalogue too many times )
-
Hard to believe those could cut through bone. Of course, anything is better than the more modern way of doing it with a saw that put bone chips everywhere. And considering limbs have been successfully amputated with pocket knives, I guess those would work lol.
-
Ah I see. I'd heard it was good for burns, but I didn't know about its uses on actual open wounds.
-
Oh I see. Why honey?
-
oo, that makes me hurt just LOOKING at it. >.<
What's the little brass thing for?
-
OOO, I'd love to have that collection. Or at least, the box it comes in
-
Eww man. Is that a real person's leg? It looks rather oddly shaped.
-
::grins:: she's a golden eagle isn't she? I love goldens. I'm going to do a pic of one at some point.
-
Is that a type of clamatis? I tried to grow one of those. It never bloomed
-
Oh I see. Well if I find some of that I'll take a pic for you! For the most part all I've seen around here is the white.
I always thought that the different colors were due to different minerals in the soil...certain plants grow different colors in different places (for example "blue eyed grass" is often magenta! I have pictures of both the blue and magenta varieties I'll post them later)

Awesome shot! I can see how a row of these could be very problematic for an enemy
Much fun
