HMM, I wonder how long it would take me to get to 2000 posts and become an administrator or mod.

My Latin class finally goes on a field trip to the Field Museum and they just installed a huge Pompeii exhibit. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what to look at the exhibit and you guess want me to ask some questions or get details. This is gonna be awesome.

What kind of intruments were used if any?

1) Ubi malus consternatus stant, me cum sancti cincti vocat.(My translation, there are many different words for wicked, surrounded, and saints.)
Confutatis maledictis, Voca me cum benedictis.( this is from the official latin text, notice how many words are missing. I really don't like the choice of words they chose too. The Church really is bad at this but its an endless ritual chant so they don't have time to say everything. Also notice there aren't any verbs int it.WEIRD)

I'm just curious if there were any Latin teachers.

On a mass scale, I would say decimation is probably the worst in the legion. I don't get why an emperor would want to destroy his own legion.

Wow, what the nerve of that article, I don't know why people bother reading it.

Wait, how many Helens' are we talking about here?

The worst punishment of anything is death pretty much. I remembered watching something on the history channel about a Roman fort in Britannia. While digging in the fort , the archeologist found a scull neatly cut in half( the face part of the skull was totally sliced off, isn't that gruesome). The archeologists assumed the cut-face belonged to a merchant who ripped off the Roman soldiers and so the soldiers got pissed. But then some other archeologist came up with the wack idea that the face belonged to a Roman soldier that everyone disliked. WEIRD isn't it.

Sorry, but the majority of us are from England and the US(I assume you are from Austrailia?), so I doubt any of us would know what you are talking about.

Is there any chance of whatsoever that the mods can change the layout or theme of the forum because I find it dull and hard to concentrate when reading.

Mons Graupius Mons Graupius, every bleeding heart, barb lovin, 'it wasent a Darl Age' revisionist's favorite moment.

"Esox Lucius"
Esox, the old Latin name for pike, used as early as Pliny; perhaps derived from the Greek isox, or both the Latin and Greek from a common Celtic root (as in the Welsh ehawc, eog, "salmon")
lucius, from the supposed Latin name for the species, likely derived from the Greek lukos, "wolf", an obvious reference to the predatory habits of this fish.
Ironically, the latin for pike is also lucius, so it might be confusing.
Here is how it goes:
1) the first word usually is the name of the genus( means species with common attributes, features, and characteristics to clear up how they get the name)
2) second word is the name of the species is conjugated in the latin adjective form( word used usually refers to or means an attribute of a creature or where it may be from. This can also apply to the genus)

It's bad. Most people associate Celtics with ireland, and the rest of Great Brittain. But Galicia in Spain is VERY Celtic. Many countries had a Celtic past that they no longer remember or really care about. Like when the bagpipe is thoght of you think of Ireland, but experts say the babgpipe may have come from Celtic Spain.
Uh so are we discussing about modern day Celtic nationalism or the past.
If so, then its good because either way, you are identifying your cultural roots which is good to know.

Violentilla is seriously such a cool name, I wish I had such cool wit and creativity.
As for me I decided to imitate or emulate my favorite emperor.

Apsotle Paul ... How important was he to the church?
The Israel and Church of Christ have only one God.
and most Protestant religion have two gods,
and some Protestant and the Roman Catholic have three gods, and believe in the Trinity Doctrine.
What do you mean some Roman Catholic have three Gods, us Catholics may refer to it as if we had three Gods, but we're still talking about the same GOD and that is where the Trinity Doctrine comes in.

We can give you latin names, but I need the meaning behind your first and last name, I can do middle and replace it with your first if you prefer. Also you need to adopt one praenomen(id est Marcus, Lucius, Gaius, et cetera)
