  4. so Flavius could you possibly help me with this distinction-if I wish to say "watch out for the Repositorium (buffet/table of many dishes)" as in the sense -"you will be overawed by the scope and quality of same" ,as opposed to -"do not trip over the table leg/slave reaching for food". What is your learned advice?
  5. not strictly the western extremity of the Wall and its associated defences (Glannaventa is the candidate for that ) but a modern day marker and an important medieval city

    The Church in Mosta is famous for suffering a direct hit from a german bomber during WW2 ,the bomb skidded down the aisle during a service and failed to explode-miraculous.

  8. I have posted a few "downsized" images to get the ball rolling in a new album. My intention is to post mainly Roman/Roman influence themed photos but I just wished to ask if Norman and other architectural themes were acceptable and interesting?

    Castercliffe near Colne (Colonnia) originally an Iron Age fort presumed to have been re-occupied by the Romans.

  16. so -here we are at the actual effective western extremity of Hadrian's Wall-not with a built wall as such but nevertheless part of an intergrated defence structure.
