this is most probably a Phishing Attack, beware...

 

to make sure, go to the Ebay site http://pages.ebay.com/securitycenter/?ssPageName=home:f:f:US and tick the Spoof (fake) email and report it, they should be able to help you, my guess is it is 99.99% a fake mail you received...

Some things you DO need to validate through email, but that is done pretty much immediately after you sign up for it (for example AIM) and then you should never get another such email from them.

 

I get those account emails from places I've never heard of...and I KNOW I don't have an account to validate ;)

 

Those "please send $10,000 to an offshore bank account" emails still crack me up :)
