  4. I m not to sure but maybe it has to do with the Orthodox church because i think its a law that they cant be clean shaven but im not sure. But i havent seen a clean shaven Orhtodox priest.
  5. well on my mothers side mostly lebanese/phoenicians from Tripoli and my fathers mostly spanish though settling in chile after the conquest of peru i think
  6. The main thing is that Jesus had sex... Pure and simple I'd like to add that what Brown did is not much different from the time tested template of Clive Cussler. Take somebodies theory, crackpot or not, based on fact or not and write a thriller on top of it. Viola! Here's a Million $$$ for you... It's only because this involves religion that people are treating it differently. You have no evidence to support the statement that he had sex.... and btw im not a catholic fanatic even though i am catholic... lol
  7. Happy birthday Neos , hope ya have a good one and happy easter to you all
  8. so yes it has been quite some time since my last entry..nearly a month.. Well not much has happened when i think back at the past month...but here is what i remember handed in a multitude of assignments which i scored very highly in did a speech for english...argh i volunteered to go first but lucky me only 6 people where in the class that day ya! so i got pretty good marks.. i made a whole heap of new friends and as the days go by i continue to talk to new people i meet in the smoking area (yep a passive smoker i am lol ) i made a few new enemies... saw peoples true colours once again i spose... when will i learn i guess you could say but meh whatcha gonna do thats life just about finished Lord Norwichs three part series on Byzantium..a superb book i must say for any byzantine enthusiast. lately i have begun to show a keen interest in the Venetian republic and i dont know why... cosnidering they did play a large part in the collapse of the Byzantine empire.... and easter is coming up this week i think this year i will go to mass atleast a few times... and i have also begun to love the church and i dont what the reason for this is... considering im against alot of its teachings etc but anywho so yer thats my past month... atleast what i can remember lol
  9. Not to be rude, Ursus, but since I asked the question initially, and I brought up the other parts... they're technically not going off-topic. It's still my thread, and I really am curious about all aspects of the navy, and am open to discussion. i believe Ursus was jsut trying to keep it on track as to not allow it to become a Vs thread..
  10. I was thinking of Romanus Diogenes but remembered that it was personally not at his fault for the final defeat at Manzikert. But what about Basiliscus.. if i remember he sent that ill fated expeditionary force to north africa where it was wiped out by the Vandals. Or was it Zeno?
  11. I would have to agree on Honorius aswell. Goblinus does this also include Eastern emperors and Byzantine ones? if so i would say Andronikos Commenus or Alexius Angelus for enticing the Crusaders to come to Cosntantinople and place him upon the throne. Im sure there are worse emperors but i cant think of right now.
  12. hey mate, erm this doesnt have to do with your question but...is this online game for free?? if so how do i join.... id like to join your guild...thanks soz doesnt have to do with your question..

  16. What about the Morea? morea actually flourished in the late 15th century..
  17. i dont agree..... because recapturing constantinople forced the empire to fight on two fronts... also im sure western anatolia was really populated... well atleast it wouldve stopped the ottomans from growing out of hand.
  18. very true... i think he was more interested in hes pet chickens then the empire.
  19. i dont think so....isnt it by email tho...
  20. i think it may have....and what i have read in a few books that it woudlve been better for the Empire of Nicea to not have captured Constantinople and john julius Norwich even says that the ottoman threat couldve been halted and that cosntantinople may never have fallen in 1453...
  21. cool map btw man.....maybe add Sirmium a city on the Danube frontier
  22. What about Constantine Dragases speech to the outnumbered defenders of constantinopleduring the siege and subsequent fall of Constantinople in 1453??
