  1. Rugby? I understand that brains are not a requirement for the game.
  2. Counter Epigram for My Lady Nephele: Gaius is obtuse. Gaius is opaque. Gaius relies, On cogitative guys.
  3. You're from Leeds? Sorry! Sorry! Thank God you're not from Kent! Oh, for a stolen rhyme......... There was a young man from Leeds. Who swallowed a package of seeds. Great tufts of grass grew out of his Censored . While his Censored were covered with weeds!
  4. Yup! I warned you! ----------------------- Gaius Optimus Maximus would do nicely, you pencultucky farmer.
  5. This will make you happy, you delinquent Arab. I had a cramp between my left thumb and fore finger throughout the second half. Kicked the cat out of the window. All better.
  6. "Africa" is not an argument. "Eastern European girls" is not argument. At the very least, an argument requires a predicate. And no one upholds the morality of slavery--not even of enslaving Long Islanders. (The inhabitants of Brooklyn, on the other hand, is another story...) I thought that I could leave predicates, premises, and conclusions to each. I am not very good with a lot of words. I think that you got the wrong end of the bull in re Long Island. No matter. I really liked the quip, and will steal it for use in the future. I loved "The Venereal Family". You deserve a Pulitzer for that! You show great promise - for the future.
  7. One thing that I can't understand, is that Italy, with one of the longest coast lines in Europe, was not a great seafaring nation then.
  8. L. W., I am being very serious now, why don't you fix it up, and post it here? No offense will be taken, as this is just for fun. Add to it, if you like. We'll publish it! Thanks for the 'well done'.
  9. "The Rhine was of no particular concern to the Romans." "No, the Rhine was important to Rome." The point I was trying to make, apparently unsuccessfully, was that crossing the Rhine was not a problem to the Romans.
  10. "...or should go -...." ??? Scorning plebes is the rule today. Murdering 'barbarians' - Africa. Raping slave girls - Eastern European girls. Slavery is alive and well throughout the world - even on Long Island. Perhaps, Roman patricians might feel at home, so long as they weren't on the receiving end.
  11. Yup! How the blazes did Eli ever get out of that passel of Pats to make that pass?! I guess that there was only one way that play was going to be stopped - shootin' irons! That 'fumble' between Eli's legs! The football gods were with the Giants all day. First the Yanks; now the Pats! The world is coming to an end!
  12. February is the dreariest month of the year. Pantagathus and Perinax aren't here. La Donna Sophia will seldom appear. Nephele wears combat boots this time of year. And Ursus can be a pain in the rear. Faustus needs a good tax man. Coldrail is locked in the porta can. The Klingon is a frozen man. Kosmic eats frogs out of a tin can. And Ramses can be a pain in the can. Moon has a corner on gold. L W has a nasty cold. MPC will never fold. The G-Man is very bold. And a swift kick to GO's butt is foretold. GPM is lost in lovely Warwick. DoLl eats sushi from a stick. Viggen was robbed by a Serbian hick. P.P. endures this motley clique. And we'll all be blessed by his Holeyness, Pope Mal(icious)adict.
  13. GO is eating Buffalo crow wings. He congratulates the Giants and their fans - in particular the G-Man. (He, who isn't gloating, as I would have.)
  14. Who is that scoundrel? ---------------------------------- I don't scroll around. I take posts as they come.
  15. Did Archimedes' 'clamp' actually exist, and if so, was it used elsewhere?
  16. Don't feel too bad about the snow. In the USA, we have been having snow(jobs) for the past year - and counting.
  17. Won't you let this post count for Augustus? Don't you think that Ursus' conclusions make a lot of sense?
  18. And Wodehouse wrote it all while living on Long Island, N.Y., USA. Did you know that my personal hero, Bertie, subsequently became the MP for Rushey Platt?
  19. Didn't Hannibal urge a fleet on Antiochus? Isn't that where the alleged meeting between Africanus and Hannibal occurred, and that Hannibal supposedly granted Africanus bragging rights as to who was the Greatest Captain ever?
  20. The First Crusade was preached by a priest, and the Pope was forced to take it from there. In Italy, the mercenaries were called 'condotierri'. http://history.boisestate.edu/westciv/earl.../trails/sforza/
