  1. LOL wow.... A thorougly entertaining review, maybe even a thoroughly entertaining book...but a little too much detail

    Gladiator

I just bought a used version of Troy but I've yet to watch it. I've for the most part given up on historical accuracy of movies. I simply watch them for entertainment value and I don't usually think about the history that much.
  3. Did you think of writing a petition? I don't know about online petitions (how effective they are I mean) but I'm sure you can get people to sign.

    Gladiator

lol that's not what I meant. I mean, that's clearly out of the question. But is it not possible that somewhere, in some ampitheatre, there was a gladiator who happened to fight with a spiked flail? I think it's entirely possible, even likely. But that one isolated incident may not have made the history books.

    The Hunt

Lol i had more, I don't know if I still do. I was being goofy that day. I didn't manage the effect I was going for (which was normal sized man hunting GIANT chicken) but hey, lol it was fun.
  6. ::sigh:: good luck. This makes me sad as well it really does ::cry:: I hate it when this sort of thing happens.
  7. Yea I do have a crick, running through my back yard. I have two of them. Lots of forests too, and lots of Native Americans are still there today. I'll have to do some looking around when the snow melts. It's cold there now. Freezing, actually. I have found things, but they aren't ancient artifacts. I found lots of broken crockery left over from previous inhabitants (in one case a piece of an old toilet lol)
  8. This does not sound crazy at all. Would you believe I was Roman in a past life? (well I already know most of you wouldn't lol. I went by Vernus then but I don't think that was my real name.) Of course that isn't the only reason. I'm also very interested in ancient cultures in general, the way they lived, etc. And the military. I'm pretty much an ancient military (also sword and armor) fanatic.

    Gladiator

I watched the movie last night, and it was great. I was looking for those "exploding" chariots, but I didn't see the "exploding" part Was Commodus really as much of a......as they portrayed him as? I don't know if he really died in the arena but by the end I was practically praying for Maximus to win (lol I didn't care about history at that point) I liked the attention to detail in this movie. I was looking closely at the gladiators' costumes and quite a few of them were really accurate. Some I think weren't, but then I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did in fact have those things in the days of old which were uncommon and never made it to the history books. I'm also happy to see that Roman religion was well portrayed, not glossed over or blown out of proportion
  10. So CUTE!! I love cats....they don't love me.
  11. Awesome! I never get so lucky as to find those things

Exploding chariots? wow... I just bought that movie today. So I will soon finally be able to say I've seen it
  13. Wow this is incredible!! Thanks for sharing!
  14. Oh, so pretty. I love water...I'm hopelessly attracted to it (blame it on astrology. I'm a pices )
  15. Wow! Where is that? It's quite a view! BTW is that Hadrian's wall? or some other?
  16. ::gasp:: it is so beautiful!! I want to go there...no I want to stay there forever!!!
  17. I tried to add Caesar's birthday. I'm not sure if it was approved or not the last I checked it was not.
  18. I love Christmas. I hope everyone here had a very merry one My mom actually managed to surprise me for once, with lots of great drawing supplies (including a set of the ENTIRE line of Polychromos colored pencils...and really cool Derwent metallic pencils. Derwent is my favorite company for graphite and charcoal work, but their colored things are nice too) and did a (quick, 45 minute) sketch of a bird in graphite, tinted with the metallics and the colored pencils, which I am VERY happy with and I think I will do more in that style I also got a new little trinket, it's a bracelet with a piece of ancient Roman glass (those who know about ancient glass probably know about the shinyness that gets on it. Well one company decided to make jewelery out of it. I may post a picture of it in my gallery, along with a few other things before too long). I love my new little piece of glass! I also got an archery target which I desperately needed, the decrepit haybales were killing my arrows You know what makes me most happy? Everyone loved my gifts. I made them myself (all but one, but that one I sort of made as well) and I'm really glad that my time spent was well spent. With the exception of the one, I had at least an hour of time in each gift, and I love to see the look on everyone's face when they open it. The one I had the most time in was the forged feather, because of the steps involved in making it, and the fact that I have less natural talent and it takes more time for to do ironwork than it would take many people who were good at it.
  19. Merry Christmas. I'm sorry to hear about your gram too...and my mom gives her sympathies as well.
  20. I have a three headed dog gargoyle that I have affectionately named Cerberus. I also have a winged dog I call "Duke"
  21. That's very strange. I like it though.
  22. Thanks! I can't wait till my grandad sees it. I have no clue what he's going to do with it though...
