    I agree he should have rebuilt Rome as a better place for the lowere classes! But he was an emperor wot do u expect!!

    I also like the gladiators who fought blind!! THe casedari(?) i mentioned fought in chariots!!!

    I am very inteested to hear people comments on gladiators and thier favrits. Mine is Casedari (somthing like that) which was introduced by Caesar!

    Am i correct in thinking the celts immigrated from Gaul and that area bringing with them there culture? If so who was in Britain before?

    I voted late republic because Caesar proved these work as the other guy has already said. Also because this was the dawn of Rome as the ABSOLUTE POWER!

    I believe Rome would never be the same. The Empire would never come about because no family could ever become supreme head of rome.

    I did not vote Hadrian because he ruined the new empire. He go rid of lands he should have kept. He also went hyper defensive (wimpy or what 4 an emperor) and everyone knows the best defence is a good offence!!!

    I agree with Ursus about how they hoped that eveything would go bak to normal. Brutus was then killed by Octavian (later Augustus).

    Thanks. But, would a roman pretend that something was a sign from the Gods just so everyone would look up to them and give them a sense of power.

    Did the Romans worship the Gods out of fear or for respect from other Romans. I think this is a good issue of debate. This could explain a lot. I have read in some sources they openly blasphemied, does this show fear (NO!!!!!!!!) ?

    I believe Hadrian caused the fall. By giving up and defending the empire. This would have given the tribes courage (wimpy) and Hadrian forgot 'the best defence is a good offence'. Brutus also caused the fall by cutting short best generals life in history. (DO NOT CONTRADICT ME, HE IS MY HERO)

    Hadrian or Brutus did the worst. Hadriam gave up parts of the Empire. This gave the tribes courage (wimpy) and , 'the best defence is a good offence' Hadrian caused the collapse that far back! Brutus killed the best man in history this cut short the greatest life ever!

    Brutus was just trying to get rid off, what he thought was a power mad man. He like a lot of Romans did not want a King. I think hae was wrong to do this but his motives were right.

    Aeneas was the son of Venus. He is mentioned in the Illiad, how come?? It's Greek!! Why did Augustus then use that for himself, propaganda?? Please help me sort this out!!

    Black Francis is correct, the cost of the legionarys armour was deducted bit by bit every month from his wages.

    Every Year on the Parade ground the legions set up their standards and new recruits could then sighn up to any of them. Remember, High rankers would get a position through the senate, often as a tribune.

    The land could be anywhere, often in newly conquered territories such as Africa and Judea or Britain. There could also be a position as a higher governing rank for Centurions, this was all very flexible though!!
