  1. Wow that's really interesting. I never knew that
  2. The Romans used a modified Greek phalanx at one or several points, but I can't remember specifics.
  3. Something like this may later come out on video. They do that sometimes.
  4. yea Tyrannus is cool I liked the scene where Octavian calls Tyrannus a slave and gets called "your highness" and a bunch of other "royal" titles with his face in the dirt!
  5. I had to restrain myself from saluting the tv during Caesar's funeral scene (I would have done it, too, if mom hadn't been sitting there) I think the whole thing is very sad...but its a good story. I did almost cry. And I like Caesar's bodyguard
  6. Zippo. Just kidding. I think they probably used flint and steel too, or maybe a type of matches.
  7. LOL I can't keep Rome away! Even my shrubbery! I planted laurels (sacred to one of the Greek/Roman gods...Apollo I believe). I keep thinking of Rome...I see something on TV and somehow manage to relate it to Rome (not an easy task while watching My Wife and Kids heh)
  8. Yea, lol. It was just the first Greekish name i thought of.
  9. ooo yay its on at 9 not 8. I'm watching it! (though I'll probably cry when Caesar dies...)

  11. Odd... I have some little Romans (and a Greek Hoplite. I swear, they would fight each other if they could move) from leadwarrior.com.
  12. SWEET!! When are you going to do Romans? Huh? Huh? Huh? ::acting like a small dog::
  13. do you use FireFox? I had the same problem. Then I somehow ended up signed in twice. But no one was on.
  14. hmm...I can't be sure, but it seems to me I've seen a bear skin on a standard in a reinactment group one time...
  15. I don't think the aformentioned things were barbaric at all. I actually think that if some things were still the way they used to be, our world would be much better.
  16. wow...o_O that's beautiful! I don't like the idea of sort of...losing all that I've worked so hard for in this life though...but that's just my opinion
  17. I can't speak for everyone here, but I think that to some people, this board is NOT a casual thing. Please keep them in mind when you write. ::laughs and points at her own words:: I even use capital "I" for this board!
  18. lol its ok. Not like i'm holding a gladius to your throat or anything.
  19. ::grins:: i love fishing too. i hope someday to get to Rome...once in my life lol
  20. the beach is always popular... i used to vacation in the endless mountains, but now i live there (here) so...lol i guess i'm on vacation in my own backyard!
  21. I too like the concept of arete...its one of those things that can't really be defined it takes a long time and basically just growing up with it to know all that it truely encompasses.
  22. depends on the pagan I'm not freaky, I'm just a freak
  23. with the "mainstream" religions, yes...but with the less than common religions (I still worship the Celtic Goddess Morrigan) the less common religions aren't as influenced by *todays* society (may be influenced by societies hundreds or thousands of years ago though lol)
