  1. Hm...I wonder if any of them ever snuck into battle, Gaul-style? I know I would.... Thanks for the info
  2. I read somewhere that Centurions (unlike normal legionaries) could marry (and that their wives went on campaign with them and stayed in thier tent ) is this true? What is everyone's opinion on it?
  3. I do believe it was in the earlier times when most of the "death matches" were fought. It 'evolved" into a sport later.
  4. I'll spare you my singing. Happy birthday.
  5. Oh, ok. I haven't had to deal with any updates yet
  6. I believe that's how it started, yes. It was originally a religious affair done on funerals. It later became just sport.
  7. I love the new blog layout...hey the post layout is different too....or is it? anyway, in the blog the layout is thrown off (content blocks stick out to the side for instance. It's happening a slight bit here, too, in the "topic title" section sticks out)
  8. I am now finally able to draw my bow back far enough to aim the arrow AFTER I draw it *lol*. It's working pretty well, but I have a big "arrow going to the left always" problem. Hit the center a few times though Hm...interesting new blog layout. Confused me for a min there. It's all good I kind of like it now that I figured it out. It's actually easier.
  9. Looks like a similar thing as what happened last night to the main page, but the Gallery isn't working
  10. Sounds like a New Age Doomsday Prophet writing fake stories again.

    Sick :(

    thanks...it's ok. ::cry::
  12. People have always *thought* of harnassing the power of lightning but no one has ever actually managed to do it (lightning is too raw, and unpredictable. It just wouldn't be practical, if it was possible). I'd have to say "no" on this one!
  13. It never really did, AFAIK. There were people who died, but they were usually executions. The real, trained gladiators didn't usually die (although they did, of course, on occasion). Usually it was up to the crowd and the Emporer if one was to live or die but as gladiators were expensive and compensation was necessary for one killed in the arena, the decision for death was usually not made.
  14. Oh, thanks PP. That's not what "pruning" is. Pruning is when it automatically deletes topics that have not had new posts in the last...so many days.
  15. In the Ethics and morals forum all of the old topics are disappearing. AFAIK that's the only place this happens. There are only I think 4 topics there now. Do you have pruning on for that forum?
  16. To me there's a big difference between "vanquish" and "screw"...but I suppose it all depends on how you look at the thing.

    No. Even if we could afford a vet, there was way much wrong with her than lice. She wasn't going to get better. I took her out to my mom's garden and put a steel bb through the back of her head. I didn't want her to suffer anymore.
  18. I read in a biography about Caesar a different translation of the first verse you listed. It probably is a different version though, not a different translation. (I don't see actually how there could be that much mistranslation to cause two so *totally* different meanings)
  19. I tried to watch it, but it froze up and I couldn't Did you ever see the Coors commercial (I don't remember where or when I saw it, was a few years ago) that had the frogs doing their Bud-Weis-Er thing, and when they finished a croc came up, grabbed all three in one bite and said "Coors" it was hilarious. [edit] I just got it to work. LMAO!! I think they were rather drunk on the stuff when they came up with that.
  20. If you do find them, let us know?
  21. I don't think there are any surviving. I've searched for similar things.

    ::curses::

    Hehe I'm going to try it again tomorrow, with the aluminum arrows (my arm is pretty much healed) I got tips for the cedar arrows but i'm going to get my strength up so i can get the right draw length before i cut them.
  23. heh, yeah. Leave me a message at anytime! Do you get post counts for messages on your personal forum? 14875[/snapback] I do, I get alot of stuff. The problem is though, that I and my members are consistantly being screwed over by my host(s).
  24. Gladiatrixes could be any type though I believe...
