  1. The tripod thing? A *trident* I believe you referring to. They were used by the Retairii, the same guys that used the net. Also, this is kind of a weird question, but does anyone know the name of a two bladed sword that was supposedly used by some gladiators? I seen it one or two places but I cannot find it again. It's very funny looking
  2. I love them all! Demachaeri are among my favs, along with Retiarii.
  3. LOL. Googlebots are cute. the name is even cute. Come over to my forum little googlebot! ::offers a treat::
  4. LOL i've heard that one used in everyday conversation in english.
  5. It's not. There's quite a few differences, but I don't know enough about either to point them all out. I do know though, that the "v" in church latin would be prounounced "w" in ancient latin. ah-weh Yoo-lee-oos Ka-hee-zah (Ave Julius Caesar!) for instance. Actually, "veni, vidi, vici" is a better example (weni, widi, wici) All I know is its annoying the heck out of my when my teachers pronounce things wrong...like pronouncing the j in jus solis. ::grumble::
  6. The Scots have wolfhounds, don't know if they fight with them or not though. Native Americans also favor wolves it seems (if the number of 80-90% wolves people have as pets is any indication). I don't know for sure what Romans may have had, but whatever it was I'm sure they went for the most vicious thing they could find and train (I wouldn't be surprised if they, too, had wolves or some sort of wolf mix).

    Night and Day

Watercolor and watercolor pencils. ALL HAIL THE WATERCOLOR PENCILS!! :notworthy: I couldn't have done this without them. My comp sort of botched it, I did the best I could to restore the colors but as always, the original is much better.
  8. I say die-o-CLEE-shun I don't know if its correct, but its what I've always heard and its how I say it.
  9. I used to have the opposite problem...I would be reading one post and after a few mins all the unread post markings would go away. But now its this
  10. Yes, that's what I've been using. Since no one else is having this "problem" I'll just continue to do that.

    Centurion

You could crop it to the edge of that. You would lose your one centurion, but you wouldn't have that edge and you wouldn't loose the overall effect
  12. Is there a way you can make it so that after the posts in a forum are read the forum no longer appears white (as containing unread posts)? They seem to be staying white for several hours, even if I refresh the page a biskillion times.

    Apollo and Mars

::grins:: bump maps are fun aren't they?

This *is* a really cool idea, but might I suggest that you find a way to avoid the "box effect"? I think the square edge really takes something away from it. (I don't know if this is possible, I don't use PhotoShop, I use GIMP)
  15. Yes, but for most people, thats one heck of a lot of dough. Most of us have to work our butts off to get even a small fraction of that.
  16. It's interesting, yes. $10 mil a MODERATE fortune??? I want to know how this guy drew that conclusion. Many slaves in Rome were actually treated quite humanely, unlike their counterparts in the more "civilized" western nations later on.

    Apollo

The God Apollo. Black India Ink and gold nail polish. The gold nail polish is a classic case of "I'm glad I did, but I don't think I ever will again."

    My Bow

This picture was in daylight with the flash on. I don't know what's up with my camara...I must have had the setting adjusted wrong. Also I was standing in my own light because standing on a chair was the only way to get the entire bow in the picture. I may be able to brighten that picture in GIMP but I haven't tried it yet.

    ::curses::

Hehe I know, but I don't have a bracer. My idea is to learn to not let the string hit my arm. My compound bow never really hit my arm, occasionally it brushed it if I was holding it wrong, but when that happens I always miss
  20. Detail of the pretty different color wood in the handle.

    My Bow

This is my longbow. I know this isn't art, but...what the heck lol. It's a AIM Viper. I love this thing!

    Jupiter

First of my artwork involving Roman Gods. I did this one in watercolor, but I don't think I'll do so with the rest of them. Watercolors are fun but they are a pain! Sadly alot of detail was lost when I took the picture. If I manage to get a better one I'll upload it.

We'd have to take your word for it that you didn't edit it, but it looks pretty genuine to me.
  24. When you upgraded. It only happens with editing posts, not with regular reply. ::editing to see if it happens again:: OK *that* time it transfered. I don't know what was up with it this morning (could be that my computer is terminally slow in the AM)
