Apple:
Mac OS X v10.5
MacBook

Macbook

MacBook is a portable computer designed for customers with performance in mind, yet both compact and affordable. All three MacBook models are powered by the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor built using 45nm process technology for high productivity and top end features that are unique in this price range.

The attractive combination of the compact MacBook, with sturdy white or black enclosure, economical price and balanced performance makes it a great choice for customers who can do without an oversized screen, accelerated performance, discrete graphics, or the expansion choices of MacBook Pro.

Great Features

Designed for extreme functionality in a mobile world with integrated AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, MacBook's compact and durable enclosure features an easy-open, magnetic latchless-entry design. At only 2.75 cm thin (just over 1 inch) and 2.27 Kg (roughly 5 lbs), MacBook slides seemlessly in and out of backpacks and briefcases.

With the built-in iSight camera and a wireless connection, video chatting with friends and colleagues is easier than ever, whether at home, in an airport, or in a coffee shop. No matter where your customers use their MacBook (at home, at school, or the mobile office) Front Row allows them to easily access and enjoy their digital files from iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie.

MacBook includes a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, bleding a perfect combination of visual display and portability. Everything looks great, from photos and movies to everyday functions like surfing the web and reading email.

Every system comes preinstalled with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, including such innovative features as Cover Flow and Quick Look in the Finder, Stacks on the Desktop and Time Machine. Macbook is the perfect tool for the everyday user, students, teachers and mobile business professionals alike. The iLife '08 is included with every MacBook, making it simple to create, organize, edit and share digital media for home, school and business. Additionally, for those times when a bit larger display might be in order, MacBooks can be easily connected to 20- or 23-inch Apple Cinema Displays.

What's New?

The latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors with speeds up to 2.4GHz and 3MB shared L2 cache have been added to MacBook portables which also feature an 800MHz frontside bus and Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor on all configurations. High capacity hard drives are included on all models (120GB, 160GB and 250GB 5400-rpm standard). More memory standard on 2.4GHz models means 2GB of RAM in the 'Better' and 'Best' systems.

Extras you might want!

Things to consider!

The MacBook doesn't have discrete graphics or an ExpressCard/34 expansion slot like the MacBook Pro. However, MacBook gives customers most everything they need built-in using USB 2.0, FireWire 400, Gigabit Ethernet, AirPort Extreme 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. An Apple Remote is not included with any member of the MacBook family. It is available separately, but if you alreadys have one, it can be used with your Macbook.

Mixed-platform environment
Mac OS X was designed to run well with other computers and operating systems. This means a Mac can join the same networks as Windows PC's, access the same file servers, print to the same printers and easily exchange documents with others who might be using Windows computers.

Applications
Students typically need word processing, productivity software and Internet related applications. If the student is in a creative major, iLife and Apple's professional applications such as Adobe Suite are major attractions. Many Windows applications are either available as Mac versions or can be run using Windows on MacBooks (using Boot Camp in Leopard or one of the third-party solutions, including Parallels or VMware Fusion).

Technical Support
Students and Educators are going to use MacBook at all hours and all over campus while being productive as possible. This makes the AppleCare Protection Plan's three years of telephone support a major benefit. You get the peace of mind that the computer is also covered for hardware repair during that same period.

Viruses
Mac OS X is built upon a secure UNIX foundation. While no computer connected to the Internet is 100 percent immune from attacks, fact is, that there are over 114,000 known viruses and counting, for Windows and zero for Mac OS X.

Inexpensive by true comparison
Windows PC`s are often advertised as stripped-down computers at low prices with suggestions for upgrades. The MacBook includes all of the features consumers need (some of which aren't available at all on competitors' machines).

Don't forget the value of Mac OS X with its stability, security and ease of use; the iLife suite of applications; and the seamless integration between Mac hardware and software.
